What better way to start the weekend than with the hardest grooves, banging beats and sparkling solos? Mothersfonk makes themselves heard: straight, without frills, with raw, high-energy, groovy tunes. From tiny clubs to giant stages, they always make it a party!
Mothersfonk is the Netherlands’ new funk sensation. The eight-member formation from Rotterdam brings a rousing mix of funk and hip-hop, characterised by deep pocket grooves interspersed with tight breaks and virtuoso solo work. Inspired by the ‘godfather of soul’, they give funk, their own interpretation and contemporary sound.

The London-based four-piece The Skints brings you the eclectic sound of their hometown’s suburbs. With a raw mix of ska, punk, dub, reggae, hip-hop and grime, they’re sure to put a smile on your face. A dose of their East London reggae or tropical punk at GROUNDS is therefore the perfect remedy for braving the cold December weather.
The group was formed in 2007 in North East London by school friends Marcia Richards, Joshua Waters Rudge, Jamie Kyriakides and Jonathan Doyle. Emerging from the London underground punk scene and the darkest basements across the country, the quartet have worked their way up to become an established name on the global reggae stage. And they owe this largely to their unique line-up, as with three different lead vocalists they have carved out a sound all of their own. From tight ska, through laid-back reggae to heavy-hitting punk: The Skints can easily be seen as the rebellious offspring of The Specials and The Clash.

Curtis Millen
Een Ierse soul-funkartiest wiens zinderende live-optredens de emotionele diepgang van klassieke soul combineren met de energie van moderne funk, house en disco. Geboren in West-Belfast in de nasleep van het conflict, brengt hij veerkracht en levenservaring over in een sound die gevormd is door Motown, jazz en de rauwe rand van grunge en hiphop uit de jaren 90.
Son de Aqui
De energieke worldmusicband, afkomstig uit Mexico-Stad en momenteel gevestigd in Rotterdam. Met een krachtige en dansbare sound combineren ze moeiteloos traditionele ritmes uit Mexico, Cuba en Colombia met moderne genres zoals reggae, funk, hiphop en elektronische muziek.

Also this month, straight from Rotterdam, we welcome none other than Ntjam Rosie. This tour is all about her personal story. She will perform songs from her latest self-titled album, paying tribute to her dual identity: African roots and European influences.

The Cameroon-born singer blends jazz, soul, pop, R&B and African rhythms into a captivating whole like no other. With the release of her second album ELLE in 2010, Ntjam Rosie won hearts both nationally and internationally. And in 2012, she made a wonderful musical impression with her double CD Live at GROUNDS, further highlighting the power of her rich and warm voice.
On 24 April 2026, her ninth, self-titled album Ntjam Rosie will be released. It marks her return to what is important to her: identity, motherhood, faith and artistic freedom. With the singles ‘In Your Arms’ and ‘Better,’ she has already given a preview of how versatile this album will be: on the one hand, very personal and intimate, but on the other hand, also groovy and danceable. By adding an extra dose of charm and joy to her live performances, she is sure to make it a big party at GROUNDS once again.
