Architectural detail drawings are just as important as plans, renderings, and diagrams. They demonstrate that you understand how a building actually works and prove that it can be built and perform as intended.

That’s why it’s essential to understand the fundamentals of the building envelope, thermal conductivity, and structural engineering. While these topics may seem technical, they form the foundation of good architecture.

And yes, a large part of working in an architectural office is translating design ideas into buildable details:)
COBE - In Transformation
Exhibition at Architekturgalerie Berlin.

The Danish architecture office COBE has been a source of inspiration and learning for me for many years. Their projects are created for people, the environment, and nature, architecture that is not only seen, but truly experienced.

I visited The Silo myself three years ago during a trip to Copenhagen, and in real life it looks just as impressive as in the photos. (The last slides are my own videos as well.)

What I especially admire about COBE is their human-centered approach: creating cities and buildings that improve everyday life while staying deeply connected to sustainability and the surrounding urban context.

Thanks to for organizing the exhibition, to for the great introduction, and to for your inspiring work.

You can visit the exhibition till the 4th of July.
These are probably the 5 InDesign tools I use the most when working on my architecture portfolio.

A lot of people focus only on the projects themselves, but the way you organize and present them matters just as much. Good layout makes a portfolio easier to read and makes the work look more professional.

Especially for architecture portfolios, where you constantly change drawings, move pages around, or update diagrams before deadlines, knowing a few workflow tools saves a lot of time.

These are the tools that helped me the most:
– automatic page numbering
– parent pages
– paragraph styles
– margins & columns
– linked images

Nothing complicated, just things that make the whole process cleaner and less chaotic.

TRIBUTE
Architecture as a Form of Dialogue

“Architecture as Dialogue” shifts the focus away from the architect and toward the people who make architecture possible: the clients. Instead of presenting finished projects as singular artistic visions, the exhibition reveals architecture as a process of negotiation, trust, compromise, and collaboration.

Archea Associati’s exhibition feels less like a showcase of buildings and more like a tribute to relationships. It reminds us that architecture is not only about form, but also about listening.

Another portfolio post! This time, I summarized two previous posts about architecture portfolio mistakes here, so you have everything in one place + one extra slide!

The main points:
1. Do not add too many projects
2. Don’t add every drawing you have
3. Don’t ignore grids
4. Use max 4 font sizes
5. Keep your portfolio short
6. Show story, not just result
7. Personalize your cover!

I hope this helps you to improve your architecture portfolio:)

Hey, I’m gromarch.
Finally showing you my portfolio!

This is the result of one week of work, 21 pages, 10 spreads, 4 projects, plus sketches.
It’s the portfolio I submitted for a job application.

I’m planning to change the cover in the future and add my competition projects, but for now, it’s a solid base to showcase my recent work.
