Doña Ana teaching us about melipona bees 🐝✨ (Maya stingless bees + sacred honey)

But here’s one detail I love most…
Look closely at the entrance of the hive—many families decorate the front.

Maybe it’s to mark their home so the bees can recognize it (especially when hives are close together).

Or maybe it’s to show pride—a little “my bees live here” flair for the neighbors. Either way… it’s beautiful, intentional, and so uniquely Yucatán.

This is the kind of living tradition we protect + share at The Green Maya Project. 🌿

Want to experience this in real life? DM “BEES” and I’ll send you options.

Vacations are not extra — it’s a real need. 💛🌿

Physically, mentally, and spiritually… sometimes your system just needs a reset. Not a hustle-y “self-care” moment — an actual FLOW.

These photos are from a weekend escape with a day in Campeche:
🏛️ meditation + ancestral history at Edzná
🦐 fresh seafood lunch on the Gulf
🍦 a slow walk through the historic town of Campeche for ice cream + stories + laughs 😂

Culture. Nature. Food. Movement. Connection.
That’s the medicine.

At the local farmer’s market, you’re not just buying produce — you’re meeting the people who grew it. You’re supporting Maya families directly, keeping money in the community, and helping traditional knowledge stay alive. 🌿

That’s also a big part of how we operate at The Green Maya Project. We intentionally choose to source locally and build experiences that uplift local producers — because sustainability isn’t a buzzword to us. It’s making sure your travel (and your spending) supports the people and places that make Yucatán what it is.

Plus the health benefits? Everywhere. Huge. Locally grown produce is often:
🥭 fresher (less time in transport + storage)
🥬 more nutrient-dense (because it’s picked closer to when you eat it)
🍋 grown for the season (your body tends to thrive on what’s naturally available)

And honestly? You can taste the difference. Local produce is fresher, more vibrant, and more nutrient-rich because it hasn’t spent days traveling and sitting in storage.

This is what sustainability looks like in real life: simple choices, made with intention. 💛

Support the hands that grow the food. Support the culture that knows the land. 💛

Nature lover’s utopia, unlocked. 🌿🛶

Sisal, Yucatán is more than a beach town—it’s a living, breathing sanctuary tucked inside the El Palmer Biosphere “Los Petenes” Reserve, where the Maya word petén describes a rare forest ecosystem: circular islands of lush green rising from wetlands, bursting with life.

Here, jaguars slip through the shadows, prehistoric horses run wild, crocodiles sun themselves in hidden lagoons, and resident and migratory birds pause to nest, rest, and refuel before long journeys home. The forest shelters vulnerable species and holds stories older than any of us.

This corner of Yucatán is wild and rich with life, home to seven different ecosystems in one place:
wetlands • savanna grasslands • coastal dunes • mangroves • jungle • natural springs • coral reefs.

The mangroves—five different species—act like the lungs of the planet, cleaning more air per square meter than a rainforest. When you glide quietly between their roots, you feel it: the air shifts, your nervous system relaxes, and the noise of the world drops away.

With The Green Maya Project, your Nature Lovers Utopia Experience can include:
🦜 Bird watching & wildlife photography
🌿 Forest trekking & flora/fauna interpretation with local guides
🛶 Canoeing, SUP & kayaking through mangroves and hidden channels
✨ Night tours to feel the jungle come alive after dark
🐟 Local-style fishing & snorkeling a shipwreck
💧 Swimming in freshwater springs
🏖️ Time on white sand, uncrowded beaches
🐠 Fresh seafood

This is low-impact, small-group travel—no party boats, no mass tourism. Just you, the elements, and the creatures who call this place home.

✨ Travel through the portal to the pristine jungle of Yucatán. Tigers, jaguars, horses, birds and crocodiles—oh my!
If your soul lights up at the thought of wild places and real connection with nature, this experience is for you.

📩 Send me a DM to book your Nature Lovers Utopia Experience with The Green Maya Project.

Tucked away in a small Maya town outside Mérida, there’s a woman quietly doing something extraordinary… 🐝✨

Meet Doña Ana, guardian of the sacred Melipona bees – the tiny, stingless bees that the Maya have cared for and honored for centuries.

This is an off-the-beaten-path experience, far from the crowds and tour buses. You’ll step into Ana’s family home and:

🌿 Learn how Melipona bees live and work in complete harmony with nature
🍯 Taste their rare medicinal honey and hear how it’s used in traditional healing
🗣️ Listen to Ana’s stories about Maya culture, community, and the deep spiritual connection with these bees
🌎 Understand how protecting Melipona bees supports biodiversity, local families, and our shared future

It’s not just a “tour” – it’s a slow, heart-opening visit where history, culture, and nature come together through one incredible woman and her bees.

This experience is curated by The Green Maya Project – always eco-focused, always in collaboration with local families and communities.

Want to visit Doña Ana and the sacred bees on your next trip to Yucatán?

Send me a message with “Melipona” and I’ll share the details. 💛🐝

Everyone loves chocolate… and if you don’t, we might need to have a little chat 😅

But our cacao ceremony with Abuela Ak’bal isn’t really about chocolate. 🍫

It’s about the journey from bean to cup — and how it mirrors our own path through life. 🚶🏾🚶🏽‍♀️

From the cacao pod to the final warm drink, every step asks something of us: patience, strength, presence, and heart.

We remove the seeds, dry them, peel them, roast them slowly (hello, life’s “turning up the heat” moments 🔥), then grind them into a rich paste with our own body power.

Only after all that work does the bitterness transform into something deeply nourishing and sweet. 💫

For the Maya, cacao has been sacred for thousands of years — once used as currency, always honored as medicine. In the spiritual world it’s known as a heart medicine: when you drink it with intention, you can literally feel your chest soften and warm, inviting you back into connection with yourself and the people you love. 💗

With Abuela Ak’bal as our spirit guide, this ceremony becomes so much more than “making chocolate.” ✨

It’s a living prayer. A chance to remember who you are, what you’ve survived, and how sweet life can be after the hardest work. 🙏🏼

➡️ DM us to book YOUR cacao ceremony to reconnect with someone(s) you love.

➡️ Or to rekindle what may have gotten lost over the years, or begin your relationship bonded in ceremony from the very start.

Let us create a memory that lives in your hearts — long after the last sip. 🌿🍫

Day of the Dead 2025 was fucking brilliant. 🌼💀

I knew we were in for a treat this year—the pre-planning from the Mexican government was next level—but the reality surpassed my wildest expectations.

Our retreat got the full magic. On Oct 31, we went to the Hanal Pixán parade: sweet, tender, beautiful. But the next night’s Catrín parade? Whole. Other. Level.

It felt like Carnival in Brazil.
The longest, most spectacular procession I’ve ever seen—characters from every region of Mexico, explosive color, music, dancing, play, and joy. We literally couldn’t look away.

This year set the standard to beat for 2026.

If Day of the Dead is on your bucket list, this is your sign.

👉 Comment “2026” to get on the waitlist for next year’s journey.
