Mototaki Falls, located in Nikaho City, Akita, is formed by rainwater and snowmelt from Mt. Chokai (2,236m). After traveling underground for approximately 80 years, the water emerges from faults in the volcanic rock.
Geologically, the porous lava layers created by Mt. Chokai's volcanic activity act as a natural filter, producing exceptionally pure water. The sight of countless white silken threads cascading down the 30-meter-wide mossy rocks is a geological masterpiece born from the cycle of volcanic earth and water.
