Happy Little Guy Fox Day to all who separate! I can’t believe I’ve spent half a decade orbiting the sun with this majestic, godly creature,. Nobody and nothing has ever brought me so much joy and happiness. From globetrotting to just hanging at home, I couldn’t ask for a better companion.

I haven’t posted much recently, so here are some photos from our recent adventures and a video of Dog vs. Donkeys (Banzo being chase by some wild Eeyores in the Dolomites.)
Another summer dump. Lived in a van. Climbed a lot of big hills. Stopped in Vegas too many times. Did some Bitcorn things. Hiked Yosemite and whitewater rafted with. Shot a sizzler for my new movie with at a music festival. Did a quick stop in LA. You can figure it out maybe 🤣
It’s long overdue that I share some of my summer adventures. Part one in the series:

Slide 8: Wildwood State Park
Slide 9&10: Ojai w/
Two steps forward and one step backwards still gets you to your destination.

My first experience five years ago with Iboga, a powerful plant medicine derived from African tree bark, was challenging and left much to be desired. The operation I visited in Costa Rica was sketchy and unprofessional, the medicine kicked my ass, and despite it working quite well, without proper integration, the benefits faded after a month or two.

So when Talia and Tom came to me a few months later about starting, a proper ibogaine clinic, I was sold. (Ibogaine is the most important psychoactive alkaloid derived from Iboga.) Fast-forward to today, and not only has Beond become the premiere ibogaine clinic in the world—recently featured on Joe Rogan—they’ve become the best treatment facility I’ve seen for psychedelic experiences. The quality of the staff and medical team surpasses the service I’ve received at the best hotels and resorts in the world. I could not have felt better taken care of throughout my entire experience.

It’s important to note what brought me back to this medicine. Firstly, I decided to finally stop taking amphetamines after being prescribed them for 25 years (since I was seven, lol)—recent research has shown ibogaine enables a neurological “reset.” Secondly, after years of false starts settling down, I’ve decided to lock in on work and freeze my swimmers, which, for best results, requires several months of sobriety (from just about everything).

For the aforementioned purposes, ibogaine was perfect—I feel smarter and I have no desire to indulge in behaviors that don’t serve me. While the experience of the “flood dose” was more psychedelic (for the first hour) than Iboga, I didn’t find it particularly profound like other medicines, which tracked with my experience five years ago. On the other hand, the day after my booster dose, I sat with Bufo (5-MEO-DMT) and that gave me all the clarity I was lacking. The combo of ibogaine followed by bufo was easily the most effective one-two punch in all my psychedelic experiences.

For friends serious about doing this medicine work, I’ll start taking cohorts of amazing peeps in the fall 🙏🫡
In the couple weeks since my silent meditation, I’ve hiked, snowboarded, hustled, politicked, and celebrated across 7 cities in 4 time zones, donning too many suits to count. On the cusp of integrating the lessons from my meditation (my last post) and deactivating my socials for the foreseeable future, I want to reflect briefly on what fuels my 33rd rotation around the sun.

Firstly, the overabundance of joy and its transformation into (a deeply spiritual) gratitude I experienced on my retreat has stuck with me (though it’s been interrupted by acute periods of stress/reality). I am so grateful to all my friends— my chosen family, and the profound amount of love in my life. I’ve lived some of the best days of my life this past month, and to know the best is yet to come inspires me deeply.

Secondly, that I can focus almost the entirety of my energy on shaping the psychedelic renaissance is only because of my amazing partners in all my ventures, new and old, from VC to CPG, philanthropy to hospitality, with a top reviewed film last year, a new one at Sundance, and another in post-production (all ), on top of all my other responsibilities, what I do wouldn’t be possible if not for my colleagues.

Please follow my ventures so you can see what I’m doing while I’m offline! And thank you to those who make it happen—you know who you are.

Lastly, I want to step back and appreciate the journey I’ve been on. It’s been anything but obvious. Often, the steps back have turned out to be my biggest steps forward. It’s the heartbreak, disappointment, and tribulation that shape a great life. That I can now influence presidential appointments and global health policy is only because I’ve been humbled more times than I can count, and constantly discover how little I know.

My advice now is simple: indulge in wherever you are in your life right, no matter how uncomfortable you may be. Find your Ikigai, and never wait to live your life. I sure haven’t.

See y’all in a few months (unless something *super* epic happens.) If you need me, you should be able to find me 😘🙏🫡🕺
A month ago, after consuming 6 cups of Aya (a lot), feeling completely sober, I concluded I didn’t need more medicine — I needed to sit alone with my thoughts. I can now say that I (or the Aya, lol) was right. My experience was life-changing.

I want to share my experience while it’s fresh & posted a retrospective on Medium (link in bio). However, first plz consider joining me (matching up to $5k on campaign) in supporting victims of the horrible LA fires.

Assuming you’re too lazy to read my blog, here are SparkNotes:

—I did not sit in Vipassana, but instead did Or HaLev. This more forgiving Jewish practice emphasizes returning to an “anchor” (such as the breath) rather than silencing the mind. If you want to do this, I recommend seeing if your faith has a version.

—I expected the retreat to be extremely challenging, but I have never felt so unburdened in my adult life. My default state is joy; only my responsibilities and distractions prevent it.

—For some, it might be comparison, but for me, DISTRACTION IS THE THIEF OF JOY. Instant gratification is ruining our brains.

—I will soon deactivate my socials for at least 3 months (after launch) or until I reach one of my two top goals for the year. I also ordered timed lock boxes for all my electronics.

—To self-actualize, one must choose to confront repressed thoughts thoroughly and forcefully.

—Gratitude is like a jar; when it is full, it becomes praise — hallelujah!

—For the first time in two decades, I realized I had a healthy relationship with every substance

—I connected with my Judaism more deeply than I have my entire life.

—That I had already been working subconsciously yet extensively on mindfulness throughout my daily existence made entering this period of silence the joyful experience it was.

—I have started a new chapter of my journey, having achieved a sense of balance and clarity that I never knew

—An experience like silent meditation is no different than taking powerful psychedelics. It doesn’t give you what you want. It gives you what you need.

Plz, read blog before asking q’s!

P.s. Admire my first ever timer photo! (pix were taken last day)

#Grateful 🙏
Wowowow it says a lot about recent events that it’s been over two months since I hosted the most important gathering of my life with, and I am just posting about it now 😅🙏

The inaugural #MysticSummit was an incredible labor of love. With only a couple of months to plan, I took over responsibility for hosting a gathering of the world’s top thought leaders on psychedelic medicine and consciousness.

While it cost me a pretty penny, I gained more than I could have ever dreamed by bringing together such an inspiring group of individuals at this critical juncture for this emerging space to which I’ve given my life.

My only frustration is that everyone is now asking me when I’m hosting the next summit 🤣🤦‍♂️😭 So if you’re a serious investor or philanthropist looking to support such an important gathering moving forward, please let me know 🙏 Check out Branson’ post on the Virgin website to see the impact we had 🫡

I am so grateful to be able to play a small role in raising the vibrations and consciousness of humanity 💥🕺
You gotta remember the fifth of November (and not because it’s your civic duty to vote— though you should do that) but because it’s this Guy Fox’s fourth birthday.

We’ve traveled the country and world together across deserts, oceans, and mountains, developing an indescribable bond. I’m beyond grateful to have such unconditional love in my life. Happy Birthday, Garbanzo (or Garbeanzo, as I’ve been calling him recently 🤣)

Enjoy these pix from over the years!

💕🥹 🥳
I’m grateful for my friends and family, the experiences I’ve had, the good and the bad— it’s all part of who I am.

I was thrilled to be able to give back to the only institution I ever managed to graduate from, my elementary school 😅. I donated a climbing wall (something I would have loved), dedicating it to two wonderful classmates that we lost far too soon.

As I trekked down memory lane, I even found some of our old poetry 🥹

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you can find a reason to be grateful every day 🙏🍗🕺
