Thank you to everyone who had an interest in applying for the Art Summer School Student Staff Role, and thank you to those who came to our information event last week. As those of you who attended our event will be aware, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the summer school programme due to some of the core colleagues involved in the programme taking part in the strike action. We are therefore no longer hiring for the student staff position, but will be looking to open recruitment again next academic year as we hope to run the programme in spring term 2026/27. We want students to know this wasn’t an easy decision, with all the staff involved in the programme committed to its aims of improving access to the arts for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Thank you for your understanding and the Art Summer School team will be in touch next academic year.
Catch-22 is a show of four recent graduates living and making work in London. It presents work made during eight months of committed practice, enabled by the inaugural Goldsmiths V22 Studio Bursary Award. Working across South East and North East London, the artists have been brought together through a shared experience: one year after graduating from Goldsmiths BFA, Di, Alejandre, Serpa Arango, and Dore are showcasing the fruits of their labour.
Catch-22 references the paradoxical labyrinth of entering the art world, which this V22 bursary opportunity has helped them navigate. The works in the show are iterations of this period: the early years, the first real grind outside the arms of the institution.

The Art Summer School is a 10 day art school for 20 college students (16-18yrs) who are from marginalised backgrounds and are studying Art & Design. The programme aims to give participants new artistic skills, a better understanding of what it is like to study art at a degree level, build their confidence, and showcase their work with a final celebratory exhibition.
Each year we employ student staff to help facilitate the Summer School - helping to support the young people to develop their creative practice, taking them on gallery and studio visits, producing a final exhibition. It’s a great chance for students to develop skills in facilitation, participatory and collaborative working, art education.
