I’ll never forget how strongly we hugged each other just before saying goodbye. They invited me to Poland and wanted to welcome me there as their friend.

I photographed the day on both digital and 35mm film, but as usual, the analogue photos arrive first because I like making myself emotional before doing the serious editing work. The whole family was so kind to me from the first minute, and I know I’ll always remember this wedding with a very big smile.
Cefalù, Irish warmth, Sicilian heat, cold beer, family chaos, and a little bit of film magic. Not a bad day to be a wedding photographer in Sicily.

I photographed those moments first at the Tuk Tuk Bar, then later at Vista Rooftop, and they became some of my favourite parts of the whole day. There is something beautiful about a bride who does not just live the day, but also shapes its energy.
Madeline and Josh’s wedding in Rome refused to stay in one place, or even in one mood. The ceremony, the celebrations, the little pauses, the drinks, the music, the rooftop, the streets of Rome. Everything moved, and somehow that movement made the whole day feel even more alive.
Not a wedding trapped in one room, not a celebration waiting politely for the next formal moment. Just music, friends, family, Rome, and a day that felt completely theirs. I think this is why I love slightly unconventional weddings so much. The ceremony can happen in one place, the drinks somewhere else, the party on a rooftop, the best moments somewhere in between. A wedding does not need to follow one strict shape to be meaningful. Sometimes it becomes even more memorable when it moves through the city like a story.

I was there for the full wedding day, from the very beginning until late into the night, and that is always one of my favorite parts of photographing a wedding. You get to see people slowly transform through the day. The calm of the morning, the emotions before the ceremony, the wild joy after the vows, the softness during dinner, and then the moment when everyone completely lets go on the dance floor. During the bride’s preparation, we had a small 15-minute window to create some bridal boudoir images, before I switched to the groom’s room and photographed him with his fellas, as you may have already seen in my previous analogue post from this wedding. After they read their vows to each other, the rings were passed through the hands of all their guests before finally reaching the couple around the neck of their dog. It was one of the sweetest details I have ever photographed. There are so many moments from this day that stayed with me. The mothers dancing together. The groom trying the wedding cake from the bride’s skin. The way everyone moved between tenderness and pure celebration so naturally. As a wedding photographer in Rome, I love documenting weddings where different cultures, languages, and stories meet in one place. This is exactly why I love candid wedding photography: the real gestures, the unexpected details, the slightly chaotic beauty of people being completely themselves.

Their day moved through different corners of Rome and ended at Vista Rooftop, surrounded by the kind of family and friends who make everything feel soft, warm, and genuinely loved. And Madeline was so sweet that she made sure my assistant and I were having a good time too, which honestly says so much about the kind of person she is. There was the small, emotional letter they gave me, a wedding cake so good that Josh looked at his spoon like the kid in The Matrix, as if he was about to bend it with his mind, and one detail that honestly touched me a lot: Josh had already bought my Slow Travel book when he was in Rome, without me ever saying anything. As a wedding photographer in Rome, these are the kinds of people I would happily photograph again and again, in every chapter of their lives.

These frames are less about the cameras in my hands and more about the rhythm within me. Still, I have companions on this journey: the Leica M6 and the Contax G2. The images made with them feel like small moments filtered through time, shot on Kodak T-Max 100.
For some reason, film photography feels most meaningful to me in black and white. When the noise of color fades away, what remains feels more honest, more simple, more profound. That delicate balance between black and white always reminds me of a well-chosen wine paired with the right dish.
Two things that don’t overpower each other, but complete one another. Like an experience you don’t rush. You taste it, let it sit, move it around, then slowly swallow. First felt, then understood, and finally remembered with a quiet smile.

This tree has become more than just a part of the landscape; it is a silent companion. Through seasons of sun, rain, and occasional Roman mist, it has stood as a symbol of constancy in a world of ceaseless change. Its roots grip the earth with an unwavering tenacity, while its branches stretch skyward, as though yearning for something beyond the reach of time.
Sometimes, as I write, I think of Henry David Thoreau, who wrote in Walden: “I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.” Though I am not in the woods, this tree feels like a beacon of that same wisdom—urging me to live deliberately, to reflect, and to find meaning in the simple and the permanent.
Rome, with its layers of history and vibrant life, is a city that rarely slows down. Yet, this tree invites me to pause. It whispers lessons about patience, growth, and resilience.
