Invited down to Kelp the other day and honestly… this is right up there with the best seafood we’ve had in Glasgow.
No gimmicks. No filler. Just seriously good cooking.
Highlights:
– Hand dived scallops with XO thermidor (ridiculous)
– Isle of Skye langoustines drowned in seaweed butter
– Oysters with toppings that actually add something! We got one of each
– Whole sea bream cooked properly
- Delicious and comforting lamb shoulder with clams
- Some of the best fries we've had in ages
- Samphire slaw!
- the basque cheesecake 😋 😍
Everything felt considered without being try-hard. Proper balance.
If you’re into seafood, this is a must.
📍Kelp, Glasgow
💸 Invited – but would happily pay for this.
Save this for your next “somewhere good” meal 👇
They sent over 3 flavours for a proper Glasgowscran taste test:
🍫 Chocolate Brownie – unreal, packed with actual brownie bits, dangerously good
☕ Tiramisu – surprisingly class, proper dessert vibes
🍓 Eton Mess – sweet, fruity, very easy to demolish
Winner for me: Chocolate Brownie 👑
Would I order it myself? Aye. They were absolutely wonderful 👌🏻👌🏻
If you fancy trying them, I’ve got a link in my bio that gets you 10% off – it also gives Glasgowscran a wee commission at no extra cost 👍🏻

We genuinely never go back to the same place this quickly, but after the last visit we were straight back in yesterday because it’s just that good.
This time round:
🥢 Sizzling fillet beef in black pepper sauce
🥢 Char siu cheung fun
🥢 Steamed meat & veg buns
🥢 Pork & prawn dumplings
🥢 Vietnamese spring rolls
And once again… not a single dud.
The sizzling black pepper beef was sensational.
The char siu cheung fun is rapidly becoming non-negotiable.
And those steamed buns were absolute class.
When you’re back in the same restaurant before the memory of the last meal has even faded, you know they’re doing something right 😅👏🏻
Loon Fung is ridiculously consistent.
No gimmicks, no nonsense — just proper Chinese food done very, very well.

We were invited along to try the other night — the sister restaurant to in Newton Mearns (which we’ve enjoyed before) — and we went straight for the Indian menu… because obviously 😅
One thing they do really well here is cater for everyone. There’s a full Indian menu and a Scottish chippy menu, so it’s ideal if one of you wants a curry and the other fancies a fish supper 👏🏻
What we had:
🔥 Seekh kebabs – really tasty, nicely spiced and great with the house chilli dip.
🥕 Vegetable pakora – tasty and good for sharing.
⭐ Chicken tikka desi karahi – the standout dish of the night. Fresh, vibrant and full of flavour, with onions, peppers and that lovely just-cooked feel. This was the winner for me.
👑 Chapter II Maharaja – mild, creamy and sweet, so if that’s your kind of curry you’ll probably enjoy it.
🫓 Garlic naan + rice – both did the job nicely.
Overall?
A really broad menu, a genuinely handy option for groups who can never agree what they want, and one very strong curry in the desi karahi 👌🏻
Invite / gifted meal – but as always, opinions are our own.
📍 The Osprey, East Kilbride
Would you be going Indian menu… or straight for the chippy menu? 👀👇🏻

Decided to allow Jacqui to treat me yesterday and honestly… no regrets!
From I went for the chicken katsu curry bowl and Jacqui got the tuna & salmon roll set — both were excellent. Fresh, tasty, and the katsu absolutely delivered 👌
We also swung by (the newish place on Queen Margaret Drive) and picked up classic, pistachio and strawberry. Haven’t tried the strawberry and pistachio yet, but they look outrageously good 👀 and if the classic is anything to go by, I'm expecting amazing things!
I was a bit sceptical about the lack of booze but my fears were allayed upon the first mouthful of utter bliss!
If you had to build the ultimate birthday lunch…
what are you grabbing first: katsu, sushi or tiramisu? 👇
When you hear Chinese buffet, you’re half expecting regret and a tactical lie to yourself 😅 but this was actually pretty decent.
The food was tasty enough, there’s loads of choice, and it felt more like solid average Chinese takeaway standard than bad buffet food. The chow mein deserves a mention.
The restaurant and buffet area were very clean and the food kept being topped up.
If you turn up hungry and want variety + value, you’ll probably leave happy.
That said… it’s not in the Loon Fung / Chinatown Restaurant / Ho Wong bracket for me (nor is it striving to be). Those are still a level above if you’re after proper top-tier Chinese in Glasgow.
My honest verdict:
✔️ Tasty enough
✔️ Plenty of choice
✔️ Good value if you’re hungry
❌ Not one of Glasgow’s best Chinese spots
Would I go back?
Aye — if the main goal was a proper feed and plenty of options.
Now settle this properly… best Chinese in or around Glasgow? 👇
📍
Laal maas = absolutely delicious
Lamb saag = Jacqui says the nicest she’s ever had
Pakora = spot on
Garlic naan = massive
Value = £10.95 for two courses!!
We're not long back and I'm posting this already! I very rarely post on the same day!
If you’re anywhere near Renfrew, this is 100% worth a visit. The Renfrew Bridge makes this a 10 minute drive for us! 👌🏻👌🏻
What’s the best Indian lunch deal in the Glasgow area? 👇
Went back in for lunch and honestly… this was a proper reminder why this place has been a Glasgow favourite for years.
We had:
🥢 Duck with green pepper in black bean sauce
🥢 Crispy squid
🥢 Char siu cheung fun
🥢 Beef with ginger & spring onion dumpling
🥢 Plain chow mein
And not one miss in the lot. Swipe ⬅️ for the sizzling duck! 👌🏻👌🏻
The duck in black bean sauce was probably the standout — rich, glossy, loads of flavour and that proper old-school Chinese restaurant comfort factor done right.
The char siu cheung fun was unreal as well. Silky, savoury and one of those dishes you instantly regret only ordering once!
Crispy squid was dangerously easy to demolish and the beef was outrageously tasty!
No gimmicks, no nonsense, just proper Chinese food done really, really well.
If you’ve not been to Loon Fung in years, go back.
If you’ve never been… sort that out.

We were invited along to try Zeika by Chef Hakeem yesterday and had a solid first visit.
We shared the poppadoms, rice and garlic naan, then went for:
🔥 Mixed Grill
🍗 Royal Butter Chicken
For me the mixed grill was probably the standout — plenty variety, nicely cooked and ideal if you like picking away at a bit of everything. It came with a trio of tasty dips for dipping the grilled meats 🤤.
Jacqui went for the Royal Butter Chicken, which was rich and creamy, though she found it a wee bit clovey for her taste but still enjoyed it. That said, plenty folk will really enjoy that more aromatic style.
It’s always encouraging to see a new independent opening in Clydebank. So if you’re nearby and fancy trying somewhere new, this one is worth a visit and I’m sure it’ll only settle in more as it finds its stride.
Thank you very much to
and the friendly team for having us!
Mixed grill or butter chicken — what are you ordering?
Balgove Steak Barn might’ve just ruined average steak nights for me 🥩🔥
Visited last Wednesday evening and honestly… this was properly superb.
My ribeye was an absolute belter — beautifully cooked, packed with flavour, and that wild garlic butter just sent it over the top 🤤
's fillet was class too, and the onion rings were outrageously good.
Everything was absolutely delicious.
Only tiny criticism?
The chips were decent, but personally I’d take frites / skinny fries with steak every time 👀
Would 100% go back.
Be honest: ribeye or fillet? And chunky chips or skinny fries with steak?
