In total it’s about a 36km distance, where you go through diverse terrain from forest to rock to snow to ice and all the way back.
Exactly two years ago today it all spontaneously came together and I went for it, driving over from Switzerland without any sleep and starting on my solo climb a little before midnight in Les Houches slightly below Chamonix.
I climbed up to Col du Mont Lachat, weaved through the last remaining snow fields on Chemin des Rognes, came past the check post, crossed the infamous Couloir du Goûter in the middle of the night, climbed to Refuge du Goûter, reached Dôme du Goûter at the crack of dawn, saw the sunrise at Refuge Vallot, climbed up the narrow Arête des Bosses and reached the summit of Mont Blanc alone at about 7:30 with amazing morning views.
I didn’t know before if I was even able to do this, but sometimes you just gotta go for it and find out or you will always wonder! Will never forget this feeling of arriving at the top!
