Scalable interim solutions like the Cherry Avenue community in San Jose (shown in images 1-4), serve as a vital bridge for those experiencing unsheltered homelessness. With 136 private units and wraparound services delivered in just under a year, this project provides a replicable model that honors people and accelerates the path to permanent housing.
Brookfield Senior Gardens (shown in images 5-8) transforms an underutilized site into a thoughtfully crafted community of 40 permanent units, using modular design, warm materials, and human‑scaled spaces to restore dignity for chronically homeless seniors in Oakland. Every detail — from private entries to shared courtyards to public art — is shaped to create security, belonging, and a true sense of home.
We are so proud of what we’ve accomplished alongside incredible philanthropic, corporate, nonprofit, and government partners, and look forward to continuing this critical work.

"We have created the intellectual infrastructure to support this work, and now we have a stunning new physical space to support it as well. I don't think we have a better alternative than human-to-human collaboration," said Jennifer Chayes, Dean of the College of Computing, Data Science, and Society at UC Berkeley (pictured)
This win highlights outstanding work from our Bay Area Hospitality Team, represented by Splash at Thrive City: a vibrant restaurant and bar designed for the Golden State Warriors at the heart of the Chase Center plaza. Seamlessly integrating sports, social interaction, and high-end design, Splash is a multilayered approach to hospitality that redefines the concept of a modern viewing experience.

The ground floor of the brand’s San Francisco headquarters is reimagined as a shared space, serving employees, fostering collaboration, and celebrating an icon inseparable from the history of the city. Drawing inspiration from its origins, the space features artifacts from the Levi’s archive and carefully selected materiality to evoke the comfort and character of its legendary denim.
As the jury noted, “This project threads a powerful narrative from the street to the most intimate spaces – the connection is incredibly strong. It’s a beautiful, interconnected sequence of spaces, shifting from grand atria to intimate moments with real finesse.”
Congratulations to everyone involved in making this recognition possible, and thank you to the Levi’s team and the broader project group for the collaboration, creativity, and effort that brought it to life.

A dynamic use-case for the growing inventory of big box vacancies, this project brings Korean culture and cuisine to all in an interactive environment. Simple, approachable branding unifies the space, which modernizes classic Korean interior design through unexpected material applications. As the first experience of its kind in the Bay Area, Jagalchi’s impact extends beyond its walls, creating more than 200 jobs for Daly City and reenergizing a central gathering place for the community.
The jurors were impressed by the experiential, human-centered approach to reimaging this empty department store, calling it a “gift to the entire city.”
We applaud the design team for their innovative vision that delivers meaningful social, economic, and environmental impact.

Longevity, material integrity, and environmental responsibility guided every decision, transforming this leading firm’s workplace into an inclusive environment that seamlessly blends with its existing context. By studying the building and its new users, a layered strategy including lighting, finishes, flexible furniture, biophilia, and a variety of spaces significantly shift how the headquarters feels and functions. Jury feedback praised the project as “warm, tactile, and deeply human,” applauding its hospitality-forward design and noting “it’s a place I genuinely want to work.”
Hats off to the team behind this beautiful project!

A story of transformation, this project reinvigorates BMR’s South San Francisco campus. What was a static lobby now hums with activity as a third space for the community and employees alike, receiving top honors in the Craft and Play Boutique categories.
Taking note of Gensler’s purposeful approach, the jury shared that the team “took an incredibly plain shell and transformed it with thoughtful craft and repurposed materials. You can feel the intentionality in every detail – it’s a dramatic before‑and‑after.”
Congratulations to the design team on this fantastic recognition.
