wanted to pop to Aldi yesterday, so I managed to persuade her to wait and join me on my commute, which she did! So nice to have company, even just the short distance it was and she was very happy.

I got to use my bag properly for the first time too. Solid big bag that I loaded up with my lunch. Can see this being a regular feature on my rides.

Now let’s see if I can get Anne to cycle me to work all the time. Maybe a public vote would help her 👇🏻

❗️New kit day❗️

Just unboxed the Routewerks Big Handlebar Bag and first impressions are seriously strong.

It feels incredibly solid, the padded insert gives real confidence for protecting valuables and tech, and there’s loads of space for everything I’d usually carry on a ride.

The mounting options are such a win too, being able to attach my and even a camera keeps the cockpit clean and functional.
Thoughtful design and quality finish throughout.

This isn’t a paid ad, I bought this myself and just genuinely impressed with it.

Next reel will be my outdoor test ride, so be sure to follow and don’t miss it.

Fed up of the snow yet?

That quiet moment when the world’s still asleep, the snow muffles everything, and it’s just you, your bike, and the glow of the ride ahead.

Morning commutes don’t get much better than this.

Winter doesn’t pause the dream.
It sharpens it.

Walk in from the cold, shed the layers, switch on the focus, because the miles, the memories, and the moments of 2026 are earned now.

Same goal. Same fire. Different season.

This is my first workout and cycle of 2026! Felt great to step out in to the cold, step up and get the legs spinning and the heart pumping. I’ve definitely indulged myself over the festive period, but I’ve enjoyed every moment together with my family.

I’ve also broken the chain and didn’t cycle at all yesterday, felt weird, but now I can focus on quality over quantity. Trust in the process and enjoy the ride.

End of year reflections ✨🚴‍♂️

This year reminded me why I ride.

Not for numbers.
Not for kudos.
But for moments.

Moments like taking on The Lecht, both sides, in one ride, questioning my life choices halfway up, and then remembering exactly why I love pushing myself.
Or standing at the foot of Bealach na Bà, knowing it would hurt and doing it anyway.

Some of the most meaningful miles this year weren’t the hardest though.

Watching my Dad get a new bike and sharing rides together, that’s something I’ll carry with me far longer than any Strava stat.
Seeing complete her first 100km at the was another reminder that cycling isn’t about how fast or far you go, it’s about believing you can.

This year also brought opportunities I never take lightly.
Joining and as an ambassador genuinely means a lot, not just because of the brands, but because they align with what I believe cycling should be, inclusive, adventurous, and human.

Becoming a ride leader felt like a quiet milestone, a chance to give back to the community that’s given me so much.
From the Moray 100, to Loch Ness & Glen Affric, to Chase The Sun, every event reinforced the same truth, riding together matters.

There were lighter moments too.
Travelling to Kos with my proving bikes really can take you anywhere.
A photoshoot with with my Brompton that made me smile more than it should have.
And most importantly, meeting new friends, many of whom now feel like old ones.

If this year has taught me anything, it’s this, cycling opens doors. To places. To people. To versions of ourselves we didn’t know existed.

Thank you to everyone who rode alongside me, supported me, encouraged me, or simply shared a coffee and a chat along the way.
Here’s to more miles, more stories, and more moments next year!

No medals. No finish lines.
Just choosing the bike and leaving the car at home.

This is what everyday cycling looks like!

877 rides. 377 miles (and counting). All just commuting to work.

Some rides were short. Some were into headwinds, rain and ice. Some were done half awake, but every ride was a reminder that cycling doesn’t have to be epic to be meaningful.

This is what everyday cycling looks like.
It’s practical. It’s consistent. It fits around work, life, and responsibility. And quietly, ride by ride, it makes a difference, to health, mindset, and the world outside the windscreen.

I’ll still love the big rides and the long days out, but I’m just as proud of these little miles.

Those 377 miles also meant fewer car journeys. Based on average UK car emissions, that’s roughly 170–200 kg of CO₂ avoided this year by choosing the bike instead. It’s not about perfection or never driving, it’s about small, repeatable decisions that quietly add up. One commute won’t change the world, but 877 of them absolutely shift the needle.

Here’s to more everyday journeys, more bikes used for real life, and more cars left at home!

What an incredible journey with an amazing group of cyclists! Tackling the legendary Col du Tourmalet was both a challenge and a reward. The relentless ascent tested my limits, and the fatigue played its mind games, making every pedal stroke feel like a battle. I’m not a strong cyclist or climber, but had to turn the pedals. But what I suffered through was soon forgotten when I hit the summit and could see the road I just conquered.

I knew this was going to be a long day, with 98 miles and over 10,600 ft of climbing, but the camaraderie and support of the awesome people I’m spending the week with made it all worthwhile. We had super support from our accommodation host/guide and loads of encouragement from to keep us motivated throughout.

If you’re wondering who the chap is on the MTB climbing Tourmalet, his name is Vincent, 68 years old and left Norway in August and making his way to south Spain over the Pyrenees. I spent some time chatting with him and it was amazing to hear his journey. Cycling and the people we get to meet through it is a beautiful thing.

The quickest way home was over the Col d’ Aspin, over the back side, only 5km long, but by this point I was in much need of “real” food and could have easily scratched, but I pushed on and hit the summit, where we all gathered together for the long descent back to base.

The hardest, most challenging and rewarding cycle I’ve done to date!

Well if one photo sums up for me personally, it’s this epic shot! The unrideable climb up towards Hekla and the fun of hike a bike up the steep incline with the photographer providing some much needed encouragement.

Today is our final day in this wonderful country and apart from that one time I got married here, this visit has been the BEST!! We have discovered so many places we have never seen before, I’ve cycled the most epic one day adventure of my life to date and hopped across the water to visit Vestmannaeyjum Island, a place we really want to return to and explore more.

The bags are almost packed, the bike has been wiped down and tucked away and ready for some TLC when we’re home.

We have stayed at the most wonderful Airbnb property with the hosts in the apartment above us, inviting me up last night to meet new friends, enjoy some local beer and welcoming me into their home like family! This is Iceland 🇮🇸 and I really hope you add this place to your future holiday destinations.

Thank you Iceland, you’ve been epic!!
