How I love every now and then you get a wee happy message...."You've sold a painting"💃💃 It is a wonderful platform to sell art through, You post it on their site and forget about it #bluethumbart does all the work for you...all I now have to do is get it in the post ASAP.
This is taken from a reference photo by the amazing photographer I have painted this image a couple of times but this is a life size painting "Majestic Dingo" runs out the water towards you...I was saving it for my solo exhibition in December...Looks like I will have to paint something else to take its place, what a terrific situation to be in😉🤑🤑🤗

A new dingo!

So I’ve been trying to photograph an elusive dingo that has left fresh foot prints out here in the desert recently.

I managed to find where the dingo liked to cross a dry creek bed and so set up my camera trap gear in a spot I thought would create a really nice composition.

Well after many failed attempts due to flashes not firing, me forgetting to put in SD cards etc, this week I think we have managed to grab a nice image of this young male.

The Australian desert is a harsh place in summer or winter, both have their challenges for a dingo. This male’s coat looks a little rough although overall he looks in pretty good condition.

Fingers crossed this dingo runs into the cat that is also being captured on the camera trap!!

Enjoy your weekend.

Cheers

One the latest art prints to head out to a customer this week. A big 23”x36” of “A Bee-eater Rainbow” #artprint #rainbowbeeeater #beeeater #wildlife #nature
I’m very happy to share that my image “A Bee-eater Rainbow” has been selected to be part of this years Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Years awards for this year!

This image was captured in a remote area of the Great Sandy Desert in Western Australia. This behaviour is only seen during winter when, on cold mornings, these birds sit together to stay warm before flying off when they are warm enough.

I am always inspired to continue photographing nature and all its amazing sights every time the images for this exhibition are released! Congratulations to all my friends who have also managed to have images selected this year.

Enjoy your weekend!

Mining Budgerigars.

Yes, there are a lot of Budgerigars in the arid areas of Australia right now. With plenty of rain at the right time of year it creates excellent conditions for their numbers to explode.

It’s a beautiful sight and sound to have thousands of these bird fly overhead.

There are also a lot of cockatiels and rainbow bee-eaters here in the Great Sandy Desert in West Australia at the moment.

I’ll be honest and say I’m not getting the images that I’m chasing but that is not through lack of trying. It’s a pleasure though to be out witnessing nature at its finest.

Nature is not something we should try to control or wish to make it conform to our needs. If it’s meant to have happen the images of our amazing planet will come.
Enjoy your weekend!!

Just a single Bee-eater.

I’m still following the Rainbow Bee-eaters that frequent the remote parts of the Great Sandy Desert during winter.

I believe the group Ive been watching for months are definitely going to stay for winter and I’ve found their nightly roost tree!

My hope now is each morning they find a nice low branch to sit on as I’d love to get some fresh bee-eater images this winter!!

Have an awesome weekend!

Cheers

Still getting out and about!

Lately I’ve been trying to spend time chasing large flocks of Rainbow Bee-eaters out in the desert and also plenty of underwater photography.

I’ve been using a modified scuba set up to try and increase the quality of my underwater images. It’s still just as tricky trying to nail underwater images wether free diving or on air I have found out.

The main thing is I’m still out and about photographing nature even though I haven’t been posting on social media. I guess I’m finding lately that If the images I capture are not high quality I don’t feel the want to post them.

Being out in nature is still the most enjoyable part of nature photography!

Enjoy your weekend.

Australian Geographic Magazine cover!

I am very honoured to have the cover image of the latest edition of Australian Geographic Magazine. What I am most proud of is that it is a dingo image.

The story in this edition focuses on the importance of an apex predator for ecosystem renewal and questions the continued usefulness of the dingo fence.

I really want to give a shout out to all those people that continue to work hard in the conservation and education of the dingo and advocate on its behalf everyday. The dingo is a unique species of canid that is recognised as native in Australia.

I captured this image during filming for “A Magical Land of Oz” which is a blue-chip documentary that can be found on Netflix at the moment. I’d like to thank and all at for the opportunity to work on this documentary.

Over the next few years, I plan on travelling a lot more in the hope of photographing dingoes in every type of landscape that they are found within Australia!

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Cheers

WPY56! I am extremely honoured and excited to share the news that I have been included in the 2020 #WPY56

My possum image has been awarded highly commended in the urban wildlife category. Now in its 56th year, NHM WPY is the most prestigious and longest running nature photography competition on the planet.

The Natural History Museum has chosen to use a select number of images which are being released early to promote the competition and exhibition. My possum image just so happens to be one of them!

I have known about this news since March and with a strict embargo in place, I have had to keep it under my hat this whole time!

Also, right about now, I should be gearing up to fly to London for the awards ceremony which is held in October at the Natural History Museum. Unfortunately, we are in the middle of a one in a hundred-year pandemic, to say that I am disappointed that I cannot travel to London is a bit of an understatement.

The opportunity to interact and network with some of the world’s best nature photographers at such a prestigious event would be a wonderful opportunity.

I must say congratulations to all the other photographers who have been included in this year’s exhibition including those in the Lumix people’s choice awards.

Thank you to my family for all the support over the years and to anyone who follows and supports my photographic work.

I do have some other news that I cannot share yet, stay tuned…

Click the link in my bio to read a blog post I have written about being part of WPY56.

Cheers
