仏像修復の様子を中心にこれまでこれからのこと等々。
昔進路に迷ってた頃、友禅染職人の面接を受けに行ったことがありました。
その時、描いた絵を何枚か持っていったんですが、社長さんに思いっきり踏まれたんですよね、、
故意ではないかもしれないけど、気づいていらっしゃった。
でも何も言われなかった、それが悔しくて、虚しくて。
その時「踏んでしまってとんでもないことをした！」と思われるような作を作れるようになろうと誓った。
それから後縁あって仏師の道へ、天職をみつけた。
あの時作品踏んでくれた社長さんありがとう🙏
今回取材受けて色々思い出してきましたw

善導大師は中国浄土教の僧侶で日本浄土宗の開祖、法然上人に多大な影響を与えた方です。
また、大師は阿弥陀仏の化身とされ、御身の半分が金色に輝く「半金色」の御姿で表されます。
彫刻を終え、漆箔を施しました。
これから極彩色に仕上げていきます。

古来から神仏彫刻、建築用材として使われてきた木曽檜。
切り株に付着した種子はその切り株を母樹として育ち、やがて母樹は役目を終えて土に帰ると根の上がトンネル状になった根上木となります。そしてまたその木が母樹となり子を育てる。
母から子への世代交代、この景色を見ると自然の神秘を感じます。
※写真1枚目木曽檜の苗木。こう見えて推定30〜40歳！
また、多様な樹種が混在し競争も激しく、栄養分が少ない土壌、この森で生き残れるのは選ばれた木のみ。
そんな厳しい自然環境の中で育つ木曽檜は他の場所で育つ檜の何倍もの時間をかけて、ゆっくりと生長していきます。
特筆すべきはその耐用年数の長さ。
伐採後、数100年に渡り強度を増していき、千年以上長い年月を経て伐採時の強度に戻るといわれています。
木質と強度、その優れた特性は神仏彫刻において替えの利かない用材なんです。
今回で2回目となる木曽檜の故郷を訪ねる旅。
また新たな発見と気づきをいただきました。
これからも一刀一刀大切に神仏を現したいと思います。

金色の獅子に対して白銀の狛犬。
日本で最後の一人となったプラチナ箔打師の貴重な箔を使用。
消えゆく技術と新たな造形、
技術継承の在り方について考えさせられる作になりました。

−像高二尺三寸（約70cm）木曽桧 箔粉極彩色仕上げ−
彫刻はもちろん、使う材料と技法にこだわり着手からおよそ1年半をかけて造り上げました。
胎内には由緒をしたためた木札を納入。
想いと形を未来に託します。
