A popular paper previously be Lewis C.L. 2018 looked at the crab walk exercise and found having the band at the foot saw increased gluteal activity comapred to having it at the knee or ankle.
This paper aimed by Martins E.C. (2022) aimed to look at the same thing but with the squat instead.
When they compared squatting with the band at more proximal locations (thigh) versus distal locations (foot) they found that the more distal the band was the higher the TFL & Gluteal activity was.

Manual therapy provided reductions to pain in the short term, however this did not necessarily translate to functional improvments at any time point. Furthermore past the short term manual therapy did not seem to add much in terms of pain reduction.
Manual therapy is something we commonly see implemented in several treatment plans. There are several arguments you can make in its ability to reduce pain, improve compliance, improve adherence etc.
It is important to note that in working with those with osteoarthritis what is going to primarily to help drive outcomes is a solid rehab program. Improving dependency on treatments such as manual therapy is of course not advised.
Manual therapy in this study included a variety of soft tissue mobilisations/manipulations etc. It is also important to note that the quality of evidence for the short term findings in pain were quite low. And so like with anything, take this review with a grain of salt, promote self efficacy and refer on if necessary!

Full depth squat did not produce more muscle in the quad and hamstring than performing a half squat (90 deg knee flexion). This does not mean don't perform deep squats but perhaps will help you align your goals better to what you need to do! In the context of developing knee extensor & flexor strength maybe going arse to grass is not a huge necessity.

In this study hitting full depth in your squat was compared to half squats and what they found was that hitting full depth produced more muscle in the glutes & adductors than half squats (90 degree knee flexion). Participants in this study performed %RM of those lifts.
This is something a lot of you may find obvious as the deep you go in the squat the more hip flexion you'll have to push out of which would naturally focus allow the glutes and adductors to work harder.
But what about for your hamstring and quads!

This study found that those with osteoarthritis had a higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease than controls without osteoarthritis. Now this can be due a number of factors however increased NSAID use was found to account to be a signficiant contributor to increased CVD risk in those with OA.

How long would it take for you to lose all your gains you made in the 8 weeks you performed the program for.
This study thankfully included a 4 week detraining period after the 8 week program which saw the majority of participants move back to their baseline measures in week 0. Meaning it doesn't take longer than a month to lose most of your gains.
Now if someone was inseason and performing and training at a high level you could argue that their groin is already being used quite frequently however in the following off season it is very likely someone can regress back to where they were previously

Strengthening the groin in this study showed not only strength improvements and improvemnts in groin thickness but also significant improvements in hip abduction range of motion, meaning people saw an increase in flexibility as well.

In any case elevation training masks were actually found to be effective in improving respiratory function. Improved respiratory function can be extremely helpful in those with lung conditions.
However in the context of performance & sports improved respiratory function did not translate to improved athletic performance. It likely will not as our fitness capacity if not limited by how much air we breathe in, unless you're in the top 0.0001%, which sadly if you're reading this post on instagram, you're not.

One of the most popular forms of exercise is the nordic curl. The nordic curl has been shown to reduce hamstring injury rates by as much as 40-50% which is simply incredible.
One of my earlier reposts showed an old study I reviewed which showed that sprinting produced better muscular adaptations than the nordic.
This study further backs this in saying that sprinting has showed the highest amount of hamstring emg when compared to other popular rehab drills (nordics included).
This doesn't mean we get everyone to sprint day 2 post injury however it does mean that we need to expose people to high speed running if we truly want to replicate hamstring loads during game time. Using a nordic curl as a surrogate for this while in theory sounds ideal is likely not the best option.
