When I pulled into the parking lot today for the visitation for his family and friends, there was only ONE car that beat me there, and it was Chad in Kyle’s old C5 Z06 (the unicorn). So not the exact same car, but both white C5s were owned by Kyle
When I backed in next to the C5, it hit me like a ton of bricks that this is the exact picture I took when I met him, 18 years ago. My C2 and his C5 😢
I’m so grateful to have known and worked with Kyle for as long as I did. Soooo many amazing adventures, going places I never thought I’d go, seeing some of the coolest shit out there, and meeting the BEST people. What a wild ride 🫶🏻
I met Kyle in 2008. We were driving down 72nd street in Papillion, Nebraska, and we both noticed the plates on our corvettes were crazy similar. Kyle asked if I wanted to pull over, and I did. We exchanged names, took a couple pictures (swipe to the last photo), talked for like 3mins about cars, and then we went our separate ways. I had no idea that is what would start an 18 year friendship, and a job where, as Kyle would put it, “we do racecar stuff with our friends” for a living
I’ve been some awesome places, met some amazing people, and have had too many ‘once in a lifetime’ experiences to count; and I have Kyle to thank for that
Kyle’s excitement, attitude, and laughter were infectious. He always said “If we aren’t still having fun doing this, we’re doing something wrong”. It really was about going to events, finding the cool/unique/fast stuff to film, seeing friends, and making new ones. I swear that’s all I’ve done for the past 13 years is exactly that.
Kyle was truly a legend, and he will never be replaced or forgotten. It is amazing to hear fans at events tell us that Kyle/1320 is a big reason they’re into cars and racing, and that shows how much Kyle did and meant to the racing community. Every time we went to the track, he really was like a kid in a candy store, trying to find something he really liked
I could go on and on, talking about my friend Kyle, but I’d really like to hear from you guys out there. I saw a couple people sharing stories about Kyle, and I want your favorite “Kyle Loftis story”. If you’ve ever interacted with Kyle, I bet you have one. 1953 was the first year for the Corvette, and only 300 examples were built. Every single one of them rolled off the line finished in Polo White and a Sportsman Red interior, with a black convertible top.
The engine on the ‘53 & ‘54 was a 235 cubic inch inline 6 called the ‘Blue Flame’ and made 150hp & 223tq; and every one was backed up with a 2 speed automatic transmission. The 265 V8 and manual transmission was not an option till 1955
0-60 on the ‘53 was a eye watering 11.2 seconds 🤓
Fun Fact about the ‘53s (and Corvettes in general), they’re ALL made out of fiberglass. Because of this, the first Corvettes to ever roll off the line, wouldn’t start, due to electrical grounding issues. GM had never built an all fiberglass bodied car before, and had to rethink how to ground everything without a steel body 😂
My goal is to eventually own 1 of each generation of Corvette. The ‘53 was a “bit” out of my price range (more expensive than my house 🙃) but I’d love to own an early C1 someday 🤓
It was a damn good time though! Some very serious dirt/mud drag trucks came out; some of them making a couple THOUSAND horsepower 😎 I got hit with chunks of ice & snow, all my GoPros died, the high for the day was 16° F, two vehicles lost doors, a truck threw a literal ROD at me, and we still had a damn good time! 😂🤘🏼

Admittedly, I normally don’t have a great time at car shows. You wake up early, park, clean up your car, the show starts, you see everything in the first hour, and then you’re locked in there for the next 6 hours till the award ceremony
The thing that ‘makes’ a car show for me, is the ‘Venue & Vibe’. An open parking lot with nothing around doesn’t make for a great vibe, but the way they have LST laid out at the Lone Star Expo center & county fair grounds, definitely bring the vibe 👌🏼 A bunch of buildings and areas of the show to explore. Plenty of vendors and food options; which is huge. Our favorite part was the trucks cruising around all day. Even if you stood in one spot for 10 minutes, you’d still get a rolling car show going by the whole time. I think they said it’s close to show 2,000 vehicles on the property, and they have to approve every single one of them. That’s a SHIT LOAD of work. Think of how many apply, and how they have to actually choose 2,000 vehicles is insane. As much work as I’m sure that is, it made the show phenomenal. I think there was only ONE time we all said “how did THAT get in?”. Just about every vehicle on the property would be the star at your local cars and coffee… and there’s 2,000 of them there 😅 It was a lot to take in, but we had a really good time 🤘🏼
