En 1959, Cuba vivió un giro radical que transformó su rumbo político, económico y social. La Revolución Cubana, liderada por Fidel Castro, puso fin al gobierno de Fulgencio Batista y marcó el inicio de un nuevo modelo basado en el socialismo.
El proceso comenzó años antes, con movimientos insurgentes que denunciaban la desigualdad, la corrupción y la falta de libertades. Desde la Sierra Maestra, un grupo guerrillero fue ganando fuerza hasta lograr el control del país.
Con el triunfo revolucionario llegaron cambios profundos:
• Nacionalización de empresas y sectores estratégicos
• Reforma agraria
• Ruptura con Estados Unidos
• Alianza con el bloque soviético
• Implementación de un sistema de partido único
