We’re a family-run business: myself, Asher (on the right), my dad, James (on the left), and my mom, Paige (in the middle). In addition to the three of us, we’re fortunate to have three incredible craftsmen—Brett, Clarke, and Shawn—who have joined the Frailey Woodworks team. We’re excited to spotlight each of them in future posts!
Frailey Woodworks has a fairly grass-roots origin; none of us come from a background of generational woodworking talent but rather we started this company through a pooling of each of our professions and passions. My dad, James was an aerospace engineer for 30 years with an emphasis in structural design. My mom has been a professional painter for most of her life (all of the paintings you might spot in our photos are courtesy of her). And lastly, I have a background in architecture and working in the design industry.
The vision for our company began with a family conversation around the Thanksgiving table in 2019, where the idea for a mid-century modern, hand powered, sit/stand desk was created. After many months of prototyping, trail and error, and plenty of caffeine, the Everyday Desk (our first official piece) was born. Since then we have ventured into other custom mid-century furniture, finding our niche in designing and building record consoles, though we love getting to build all types of furniture.
Since 2019, every piece has been handmade in Weatherford, Texas, in the barn-turned-woodshop my dad built years ago.
We’re incredibly grateful for the ideas and dreams our customers have brought to us, and we’re excited for what the future holds!
