that can turn into a big one like the publication of my dear friend Maren first cook book (available in German so far). It is more than about cinnamon buns which we all love, but also about celebration the small moments in life.
So proud of Maren and her diligence with everything she does, baking the most delicious sweet treats despite the heat of 34C while we were photographing some sets in Hamburg last year. Making sure that all important details are captured for a good baking experience (my photographer friends know how exhausting it can be to stand on THAT ladder:)
I travelled with Maren to Helsinki, soaking up the spring sun & city vibe, eating our way through many Korvapusti, a trip we both enjoyed so much. Some moments were also captured here in our tiny village and in the farm garden, were some memories of Maren’s mum will live on.
So happy and grateful we got to work together on this book and creating something truly awesome, cannot wait for our other endeavours.

it is Christmas.
Despite all the sparkling lights and the Christmas carols, I was not feeling that festive feeling.
It was only some days ago I realised it was more about the little things this year: spotting venus in the early evening winter sky, meeting up with friends, talking while sipping tea, writing cards and crafting gifts. Being grateful and showing gratitude, sharing and helping others.
Putting this challenging year aside for a couple of days, remembering the essence of Christmas and this festive season. Wishing you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, sending much love from our little village in the North East of Germany to your homes.

February has felt like a whirlwind. Packing many boxes, unpacking even more, packing my suitcase with my first travel this year taking me to London. Despite the rain, there was already Spring in the air with pops of colour here and there. And I was greeted with pops of colour upon the return to our little village in the North East of Germany. I can hear the returning cranes chanting - Spring is here.

Unsere Arbeit mit dir und deinem Garten war einfach toll. Ich konnte so viel von dir über das naturnahe Gärtnern lernen. Dazu haben wir viel gelacht, bei Kaffee und Croissants deinen wunderschönen Schrebergarten bei fast allen Jahreszeiten porträtiert - Wind und Wetter, Regenschauern und Sommerhitze die Stirn geboten.
Nicht nur ein schönes, sondern auch wertvolles Buch, naturnahes Gärtnern und eine nachhaltige Lebensweise, sind in der heutigen Zeit wichtiger als je zuvor. Und ich freue mich, dass ich meinen Beitrag dazu leisten darf.
Ein großes Dankeschön für die tolle Zusammenarbeit geht auch an das Team vom Inselverlag mit Katharina Dittes als Lektorin, viele aus dem Projektteam sind selbst passionierte Gärtner, was man diesem Buch anmerkt.

This week I learned a new word, it is more than that, a philosophy: Komorembi which is a Japanese word and translates into sunlight, which falls through the leaves of trees. It is the play of light and shadow, a moment of uniqueness and enchantement, a moment to pause and embrace. After the darkness there will be light, a comforting thought full of hope.
We are grateful for spending the end of this year at the farm, having Komorembi moments with the sunlight fading in and out as we go for long walks, meeting up with lovely folks in our village. Lightening some sparklers at midnight and listening to the church bells ringing at midnight welcoming the new year.
Wishing a happy and peaceful 2024 to you an your loved ones.

It comes with a certain heaviness, at times it feels like a warming blanket, a shield, quietness, calmness. I have been longing for this light and the stillness within me, sometimes just for a blink of a moment.
