Muchas gracias a María Visión y al Restaurador Carlos Lozoya, por darme la oportunidad de vivir este sueño, trabajando en la que fuera la casa del Apostol San Marcos, lugar donde María vivió sus últimos días y donde acontecieron el Pentecostés y la Última Cena.
Sigan al canal para que se enteren de todo lo que México y María Visión están haciendo en Jerusalén, y en otros sitios sagrados del mundo.
Se trata de una escultura decimonónica tallada en madera y policromada al óleo, perteneciente al Seminario Diocesano de León, Guanajuato.
Fue manufacturada en España y regalada a la naciente Arquidiócesis por su primer Obispo, el teólogo Dn. José María de Jesús Díez de Sollano y Dávalos, quien fue un importante difusor y estudioso de esta advocación mariana, a la que no dudó en encomendarle el Seminario y las vidas de los Sacerdotes que aquí profesarían su fe.
La calidad esculturica y pictórica de la Virgencita del Seminario es sin duda, uno de sus más notables atributos.
La Virgen aparece de pie, pisando una serpiente, posando sobre un orbe esférico rodeado de nubes y tres pequeños querubines. María muestra su rodilla ligeramente flexionada en posición de contraposto, insinuando un ligero movimiento qué le da naturalidad a la pieza.
Dispone sus brazos hacia su pecho, en señal de oración. Sus manos se muestran abiertas, con los dedos ligeramente curvados, evidenciando la destreza escultórica del anónimo autor.
Finalmente es digno de apreciar su rostro, con una expresión de una notable belleza, ligeramente sonriente y con su mirada dirigida al espectador, quien al estar frente a ella no puede evitar sentir su presencia.
El proceso de restauración estuvo encaminado en estudiar y limpiar químicamente a la Virgen, regresando la calidad pictórica con que fue concebida, retirando repintes, manchas y suciedad que el tiempo había depositado en ella.
De la misma manera, se trató un ataque xilófago antiguo y se restituyó una gran sección del orbe, nube y parte de un querubín que habían sido alcanzados por el fuego, carbonizados y sustituidos por materiales no adecuados (sulfato de calcio).
Esta sección se volvió a tallar en madera y se policromó de manera similar a la original. Finalmente se añadieron pestañas y se hizo la limpieza química de algunos de sus elementos ornamentales.
