Baby Sydney has done so well this week! She is already eating a mix of formula and wet food, and she doesn’t really latch on to the bottle, but she’s eating plenty and warming up to me every day. She’s such a little cutie.
Late night intake last night. A former coworker reached out to me about a baby in need, and after getting the ok from the rescue, I went to retrieve this little cutie. She had been living with her mom and siblings under a shed, but we believe that a raccoon may have gotten to her siblings. Because of the immediate danger and no sign of mom, she had to be removed from the area. She’s definitely underweight, so it doesn’t seem like momma was keeping up with feeding her enough. So now she is here. She’s about 4 weeks old, and her appetite is good so hopefully will get the weight up quickly! #kittens #rescue #fosteringsaveslives #blackcats
Skye and Florence have both been doing so well and have brought so much joy with how sweet and precious they are. Florence is a tiny purr machine, and Skye is a tank in kitten form. I want to make it very clear that the symptoms that Onyx, Midnight, and Ebony had were not the same as Paris and London, which were all different from Oslo. I refrain from putting full/specific medical details in my posts because over the years I have gotten tired of unsolicited medical advice from strangers on the internet. But rest assured I would not endanger new kittens if I thought they were coming in to an unsafe environment. The trio did likely have some sort of virus, so lots of disinfecting occurred. London and Paris were never even in the big incubator, and I found tiny seed ticks on them, leading me to consider a possible tick-borne illness (this is the first time I have EVER found ticks on neonates). Oslo broke my heart because I knew something was wrong, but when he was at the vet he was acting normally and thus no treatment was deemed necessary. He was fighting impossible odds, and there’s only so much a vet can do when they do not see any abnormal behavior during the appointment. I appreciate all the support I received in all the losses, and any negative comments will be dealt with as I see fit.
I thought I wouldn’t have to make this post. RIP Oslo. 💔
Oslo got a clean bill of health from the vet yesterday. He ate like a champ for the rescue all morning/afternoon, making me look like an overrated psycho for being so worried. He’s still eating normally, so I’m not sure why his appetite was so poor before. I’m just glad he’s ok. #oslo #fosterkitten #rescue #fosteringsaveslives #evansville
While waiting for an update on Oslo, I want to celebrate surgery day for my baby Golden Girls! Rose, Dorothy, and Blanche are getting spayed today! After surgery, Blanche will be spending a few more days with me before being picked up, and Rose and Dorothy will be going to the rescue to find a forever home! It’s always nice to celebrate something positive when so many things have gone wrong lately. #goldengirls #fosterkittens #rescue
Guys we need all the positive vibes for Oslo. Last night I saw that one of his paws was swollen. The first picture is from Tuesday afternoon, and it doesn’t look swollen to me there, and I didn’t notice anything off until early evening yesterday, but you can see the swelling in the second picture from last night. His appetite decreased overnight, and he has barely eaten anything for the last 2 feedings. He is going to the vet this morning, and I am hoping there is something we can do. He has been strong for the past week, but this has been very rapid, and he is still so tiny. Please let him be able to get past this. 💔
I know everyone is getting bogged down with sad news, so here are some pics of Oslo and Florence. My two smallest that came in last week are, so far (fingers crossed, knocks on wood), doing well. Oslo is still very small, but he is gaining steadily and eating well. Florence is very upset to be alone, but she will have to wait before she can be added to Oslo and Skye (I gave up trying to keep those two apart). She has some watery eyes, but otherwise is doing well. I just need them to stay ok.
I don’t think I can’t take any more losses. Paris began to decline yesterday and passed around 3am. 💔
Hi there! If you are new here, or maybe just haven’t heard my story, here’s some info about me. My name is Morgan. I am a kitten foster in southern Indiana and have been doing this since 2016. I have fostered more than 200 kittens in that time (I haven’t done a count recently; I’m probably close to the 250 mark if I had to guess). I worked in vet med as a tech/assistant for several years, though I am no longer in that field because I need money to live, and unfortunately it does not pay enough (at least not in my area). I personally have several animals. Weasley and Effie are my OG cats, Hugo was a foster fail 2 years ago and is basically my familiar, and Minerva was a foster who my boyfriend fell in love with and adopted back in 2021. My two Alaskan Malamutes, Luna and Steele, are both seniors and I am cherishing every day I have left with them. Spencer the goofy standard poodle was a rescue from New Hope and LOVES the kittens. We also inherited my boyfriend’s family dog, Skittles, who is a grumpy senior terrier mix who loves us but not the kittens. 😂

The important part about this post (the reason I am making it) is this: I do not have patience for people who come in here to make hateful comments or try to act like they know something when they don’t. If you are just asking questions, that is one thing. But if you get rude and demand I take a kitten to a vet because you don’t know what hissing is, don’t expect me to not respond accordingly. I have no issue getting feisty with ignorant people on the internet. Again, this is for people who are rude/hateful/etc. I am more than happy to explain things if people have genuine concerns or questions.

I am also only one person. I am a foster, not a rescue; I cannot make intake decisions, so if you are looking for someone to take in kittens, you must reach out to a local rescue. I have worked with several local rescues, though mostly New Hope. I try to get donations for my own supplies to take the burden off the rescues & so I can request the products that I am comfortable with/like most. My Amazon list is always available.

If you took the time to read all this, thank you, & welcome to my fostering adventures!
