Swimming from Icebergs to North Bondi… this is more than a routine.🏊🇦🇺🤝
It’s something sacred to me.

I’ve crossed oceans all over the world.
But nowhere moves me like Bondi Beach.

Out here, I don’t just swim.
I share the water—with dolphins, with wild life, with the raw energy of nature itself.
And in those moments… I remember what it means to be alive.

Pool or ocean—swimming is the same motion.
But here… something changes.

Bondi gives me strength.
A force I can’t explain.

The ocean healed me.
It pulled me out of darkness… and brought me back to life.

I call it Bondi Magic.

Without this place, I wouldn’t be here.
I wouldn’t have dared to chase the highest level of sport again.
I might still hate swimming.

But now… I choose to fight.

In this one life, I am grateful to have a purpose—
to chase something bigger than myself.

On the road to …🇺🇸
today, once again,
I dive into this ocean… and become stronger.

Legend.🤝🌍
with Team
I won the Oceanman World Series 10km race in Krabi, becoming the first Japanese male to achieve this title.
🏊🥇🌏

It was my first 10km race in 7 years. Back in 2019, I honestly thought I would never swim a 10km race again — or even compete in open water swimming at all.

The conditions were brutal: water temperature over 30°C, swarms of jellyfish, and at around the 4km mark I was hit hard on the inner side of my left upper arm by a jellyfish. From there, I lost almost all sensation in my left arm for the remaining 6km. I had to carefully control my pace and heart rate to avoid dehydration and overheating.

The race conditions strongly reminded me of my first World Championships in Shanghai 2011. During the race, memories came flooding back — swimming alongside legends of open water swimming such as, Thomas Lurz,,,, and. They were the generation above me, and at 21 years old, I remember being in awe of how they continued to perform at the highest level well into their 30s.

Now I’ve reached the same age they were back then, and I find myself still fighting at the world level.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have lived in the same era as the pioneers who built the Olympic history of open water swimming. Each of them had their own unique style, and they were all incredibly inspiring. They have shaped the athlete I am today.

My goal now is to qualify for next year’s World Championships by winning the Japanese national selection race this autumn. And beyond that, I will continue pushing toward LA2028 — chasing the dream of an Olympic medal at 37, like the legendary Spiros Gianniotis, whom I deeply respect.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime journey. I will give everything I have.

Live now. Die later.

Deep gratitude to the team and staff for the incredible hospitality and race organization.🤝✨

I won the 5km race at the World Series Swims in Terrigal 2026!
The last time I won at a World Series Swims event was in Noosa 2017.🏊✨

I’m so happy to be back on this stage again.☺️

Many thanks to the amazing organizers!!!✨

At the end of this month, I’ll be returning for the 10km race!🌏

Bondi Magic Vol.1 – Resilience and Personal Reinvention – Font Romeu

From the summer to autumn of 2025, Yasu returned to Font Romeu, France—his spiritual training ground—for the first time in years. Surrounded by the Pyrenees at, he committed to two months of high-altitude training in pursuit of LA2028 and KONA2028.

Reuniting with old friends, meeting new training partners, and confronting himself in the mountains marked a powerful restart—both as an athlete and as a person.

Following the altitude camp, Yasu traveled to London to attend the Global Sports Agenda, where leaders from sport and finance gather from around the world. Shortly after, he competed at the in Greece, claiming his second victory and his first international win since 2019.

This film is not just about swimming.
It is a story of resilience.
A return to one’s roots.
And a journey to rediscover purpose—one stroke at a time.
ちょうど1週間前、
Japan HEROs Sports Award 2025
