A huge congratulations to my dear friend on the opening of Co Nghi Quan 🎉🥂

Named after his fiancée, Nghi (“Miss Nghi Restaurant”), the restaurant is as beautiful as its story 💞 with soft pastel interiors, elegant details and a welcoming atmosphere that feels both modern and nostalgic ❤️

Love their unique “Bowl & Plate” concept 👏🏻

Today I’m sharing the BOWL side first 🍜 and this is 💯 Vietnamese food done right 👍🏻

Every bowl was packed with umami, quality ingredients and that comforting home-cooked feel that reminds you of Grandma’s cooking.

✨ Bún Bò Huế — rich, deeply flavoured broth with tender beef that practically melts in your mouth.

✨ Bò Kho — beautifully tender beef in an aromatic, flavour-packed stew. Delicious with either bánh mì or noodles and seriously addictive 🤤

✨ Hủ Tiếu Hải Sản — loaded with incredibly fresh seafood and handmade Australian squid cakes filled with real chunks of squid. I ❤️ it!

✨ Hủ Tiếu Thập Cẩm — hearty, generous and full of flavour.

What really sets Co Nghi Quan apart is its commitment to quality 👏🏻 From the finely sliced water spinach and banana blossom served with fermented shrimp sauce, to the premium ST25 rice from Vietnam and exceptionally fresh seafood. These traditional accompaniments are becoming increasingly rare due to the cost and preparation involved, but they make all the difference. You can genuinely taste the quality 😋 it honestly doesn’t get much fresher than this ❤️

And don’t skip dessert 🥭 The freshly made mango sticky rice, Vietnamese milk coffee and fresh coconut were the perfect finish.

Honestly, I couldn’t pick a favourite bowl. Every dish was fresh, comforting, packed with flavour and beautifully executed 🙌🏻❤️

Now for the hard part… waiting to show you Part 2: PLATE 👀🍽️

Finally made it to Superwok after wanting to visit for the longest time 🥢

The dish that originally brought me here was the Puff Pastry Creamy Seafood Soup 🥣 rich, creamy, comforting and packed with nostalgic Hong Kong café flavours ❤️ I’d happily order it again 😋

But the biggest surprise of the night was the Phoenix Feet 鳳爪 👏🏻 It may not look like much, but the texture was so on point and the flavour was incredible. Soft, deeply braised and honestly one of the best I’ve had across Brisbane & the Gold Coast.

Other standouts included:
✨ Bean Curd Rolls (鮮竹卷) — fresh, juicy. My sis is a super lover of this dim sim dish and she reckons probably one of the best she has had in Qld.

✨ Stir-Fried Seafood Ho Fun 滑蛋海鮮炒河— loaded with fresh seafood and packed with proper Smokey wok hei 🔥A must order 👍🏻

✨ Mapo Tofu — neither Mr Assistant nor I can handle spice, but we couldn’t stop digging into this. The sauce was seriously addictive and perfect with rice 🍚 So good! 🤤

✨ Super Wok Sizzling Chicken Hotpot
Arrived sizzling and smelling incredible 🤤 The aroma alone made us hungry again. Rich, savoury and full of flavour.

✨ HK Style French Toast
Loved the texture of the bread — fluffy inside with a lovely golden exterior. For my personal taste, the peanut butter filling was slightly thick and I would’ve loved a more fragrant butter on top. Still Yummo 😋

The Cantonese cha chaan teng-inspired atmosphere, neon lights and comforting dishes made this a spot I’ll definitely be returning to.

One of the most beautiful birthday cakes I’ve had the pleasure of cutting into 🎂 🍑✨

This stunning Persimmon Birthday Cake from Icing Hill featured layers of light chocolate chiffon, silky chestnut cream and a gently tangy persimmon compote 😋 creating a delicate balance of flavours and textures that felt elegant rather than overly sweet.

The chestnut cream added a smooth, nutty richness, while the persimmon brought a lovely fruity brightness that lifted every bite and that delicate crunchy layer just added the most satisfying texture to every bite. Those gorgeous layers 🍰 … almost too pretty to cut ✨

As a persimmon lover, this cake was such a treat and definitely one I’ll remember for a long time 😌

The flowers, candles and cake made for a beautiful birthday moment 💐✨

And stay tuned… my birthday dinner at one of my favourite Brisbane restaurants is coming soon 🍝

Have you ever tried a persimmon cake before? 🍑👇

Recently checked out Night Market Brisbane in the Valley

Moody lighting, neon touches, buzzing energy & a cool Tokyo-inspired late-night vibe… definitely one of those places that feels made for drinks, shared plates & lingering a little longer with friends 🍸

✨ Watermelon Sashimi
Super refreshing and surprisingly addictive. The balance of tamari, radish and nori worked so well together 👍🏻 light, clean and packed with umami freshness. Would absolutely order this again.

✨ Kombu-Spiced Edamame 💚 A MUST ORDER! Probably one of the best edamame dishes I’ve had 😋 Th
Simple yet perfectly executed 👏🏻 that kombu, yuzu and smoked sea salt combination gave it this addictive savoury-citrusy depth that kept me reaching for more.

✨ Miso Caramel Popcorn Chicken
Thought this would just be another tasty popcorn chicken dish… but the flavour was actually super unique and delicious. Tender chicken coated in that sweet-savoury miso caramel goodness 🤤 If the coating had a little more crisp it would’ve been even better.

✨ Crispy Pork Belly
Presentation, sauce and flavour? Honestly 9/10. The pork itself was beautifully cooked, paired with scrumptious dashi jus, yuzu kosho and charred leeks that all worked perfectly together. My only letdown was the crackling, which was chewy but I’d still happily order it again hoping for that perfect crispy skin next time.

✨ 9+ Wagyu Sando
Loved the sweet toast & caramelised shallot flavours, though personally I was hoping for a slightly thicker cut of wagyu for more of that juicy wagyu sando bite and texture.

They run out of cream for the fried cream strawberry sandwich and they kindly offered me a complimentary Matchamisu instead 🍵 Appreciated the gesture & it was yum.

Overall, such a cool late-night dining spot with great atmosphere, creative flavours and a few seriously addictive dishes. I’ll definitely be back 😊✨

Back again at Attimi 😋 probably my 5th or 6th visit now ✨ by

Chef Dario’s new menu reminded me exactly why I keep returning. Thoughtful, creative and full of delicious little surprises 👍🏻 it genuinely felt like a scrumptious Italian tour 🇮🇹✨

From the presentation to the layering of flavours, it genuinely felt like going on a scrumptious Italian tour through different regions of Italy 🇮🇹✨

My pick of the night:

✨ Cicchetti Parmigiana Tart — visually stunning with delicate ocean freshness from the scallop crudo, potato rosti and cauliflower cream.

✨ Toscana — Chicken Liver Parfait, Coca-Cola Jelly & Quinoa
Easily one of the highlights of the night 🙌🏻❤️ The explosion of flavour from something that looked so delicate and cute was unbelievable. Rich, savoury, slightly sweet and perfectly balanced with texture from the quinoa crisp. I honestly could’ve eaten a dozen of these

✨ Savoury Saffron Donut
First bite hits with this punch of cheesy saltiness, then dipped into the creamy truffle sauce… SO good 🤤 Rich, savoury and seriously addictive.

✨ Homemade rye sourdough focaccia with lemon thyme butter ❤️
Warm, fluffy and impossible to stop eating… especially with the extra Garlic, Mushroom & Nduja butter.

✨ Trentino Alto Adige — Corn-fed Duck Roulade
Beautifully cooked with layers of flavour from the celeriac, chestnut purée and rich red wine jus. You could really feel the thought and passion behind this dish.

✨ Vanilla Pannacotta with braised pears & pistachio
Smooth, elegant and a perfect finish to the night. 10/10

We also enjoyed the Nduja & Pumpkin Tortelli plus favourites from previous menus including the Sardegna, Ultimate Arancino and chickpea waffle 👀✨

If you’re wondering where to take overseas visitors in Brisbane… this might be one 👀✨

Recently brought friends visiting from Hong Kong to Aloria mainly for the skyline views — but honestly, the food ended up being such a pleasant surprise too.

✨ Spent corn waffle — super light and crisp with caramelised Ruby Creek mushrooms and soured cream. Loved the balance of earthy, creamy and savoury flavours together.

✨ Light cured cobia — delicate and refreshing with smoked bone consommé, green tomatoes and cultured cream. Clean flavours but still layered and interesting.

✨ Coal-roasted leek — one of the group favourites. Never thought leek could taste this good 🤤 Smoky, slightly sweet, umami-rich and so creative with the kombu, macadamia and fermented honey glaze.

✨ Bay lobster schnitty — the yuzu hollandaise completely elevated the dish for me. For the coating, I personally would’ve loved it even lighter.

✨ Whole baked leatherjacket fish — surprisingly firm texture with beautiful umami flavour throughout. The champagne beurre blanc paired so well with the fish and those crispy bits added such a nice contrast.

✨ Brined baby gem lettuce with pear & ginger dressing — fresh, vibrant and unexpectedly delicious together.

✨ The restaurant was also incredibly accommodating and swapped the beef course to pork cos some of our guests don’t eat beef. The pork turned out tender, juicy and full of flavour.

✨ Persimmon cheesecake — loved this as a persimmon lover 🤍 Creamy, smooth and not overly heavy, especially paired with the malt ice cream.

The views over Brisbane at night definitely made the whole experience extra special too ✨

Brisbane’s first dedicated lobster roll spot has officially landed at Sea Salt 👀🦞

Was invited to the launch of Sea Salt at Eat Street Northshore 👀🦞 and one bite in, I understood why they spent 18 months creating this 😌✨

Everything here is built around Queensland seafood, using diver-caught tropical rock lobster from the Torres Strait & Far North Queensland 🌊 air-freighted fresh, cooked to order and served in their custom-made brioche rolls 👌

Tried both signature lobster rolls:

🦞 Maine Style Lobster Roll $25 — chilled lobster & prawn with celery, dill, lemon zest and Kewpie mayo. Super fresh, light and refreshing with a really nice balance from the housemade sauce.

🧈 Hot Buttered Lobster Roll $25 — okay… now I understand the obsession ❤️❤️🤤Warm lobster and prawn tossed through their aromatic garlic butter sauce, packed into that buttery toasted brioche. Loved the meaty bite from the lobster pieces and how the sauce soaked into the bread without making it heavy.

Let’s talk about that custom brioche from a secret Brisbane bakery 🤫 Light crisp on the outside, warm and fluffy inside 👍🏻 honestly carried the whole thing beautifully.

Also got to have lots of caviar bumps during the launch 🍾✨ and now I already want to go back for:

🔥 Prawn & Bacon Melt $23 — highly recommended by the owner 😋
🦞 Seafood Spring Rolls $15— filled with lobster, crab & prawn meat 😍

The whole setup at Eat Street made the night even better — lobster rolls, sparkling, live music and red carpet vibes 🎸🍾

Definitely one of Brisbane’s more unique seafood additions right now 👏🏻 🙌🏻❤️

Back at Goya Cafe after a while… and yep, the food is still SO good 👀✨

Had the Mushroom Omurice 😋 soft fluffy Japanese omelette over garlic fried rice with edamame, topped with crumbled mushrooms, cheese and the creamiest mushroom sauce 🤤 That sauce was honestly the star for me… rich, cream, earthy and full of deep mushroom flavour without feeling too heavy. Everything just worked together so well.

Also had their sandos & yummy as always 😋
🐟 Fish Katsu Sando — crispy barramundi fillet with Japanese egg tartare sauce in soft toasted shokupan. Fresh, crunchy and super satisfying.

🐷 Kurobuta Pork Sando — thick cut pork katsu with mustard mayo & tonkatsu sauce. Juicy, crispy and packed with flavour.

🥤 Iced Concrete Latte — loved this too. Smooth Okinawa brown sugar flavour with a creamy, slightly caramel-like richness that paired so well with the food ✨

Definitely still a spot worth revisiting if you’re around Broadbeach ✨

The Butterette - a new Gold Coast bakery focusing solely on and one of the few specialising in French-style Artisan Hand-Crafted Madeleines, quietly launched their online ordering this April. 👏🏻

French-style … but also not so French ✨- you still get the classic shell-shaped, buttery cakes with lightly crisp edges and soft, fluffy centres… but reimagined with more modern flavours like matcha, Thai milk tea and Earl Grey 🤍😋

Freshly made to order, using premium ingredients (you can really taste it):
🍵 Marukyu Koyamaen matcha from Japan
🫖 Twinings Earl Grey & Lady Grey
🧡 ChaTraMue Thai milk tea
🧈 Grass-fed butter

There are 7 flavours and my picks:
🍵 Matcha — rich, earthy and you can taste the quality straight away, balanced with that smooth matcha chocolate finish
🧡 Thai Milk Tea — aromatic, creamy and comforting with that signature tea flavour
🍫 Chocolate — soft, indulgent with a satisfying chocolate shell snap
🫖 Earl Grey — elegant, fragrant with that subtle bergamot note

Other delicious options:
🧈 Brown Butter — warm, nutty and classic with that caramelised depth
🍋 Lemon — light, buttery with a gentle citrus lift
🌸 Lady Grey — lighter, citrusy and more delicate on the finish

They also do madeleine towers 😍 if you’re after something a little different for gifting or events ✨
