• Foie & Brioche with the silkiest hazelnut ganache & apple chutney paired with bubbles.
• Martini crafted with Monkey 47 gin was a great recommendation by Marla (our fav server at The Wilde!)
• Ora King Salmon was my fav dish on this visit with caviar beurre blanc, yuchoy, and sunchokes. The Volnay wine that accompanied it was spot on for the fatty fish.
• The beef course is always a hit - on another visit we had a version with chef’s short rib and oxtail tortellini which I still think about.
• Petit fours & dessert to end the meal often comes with the signature cocktail, “Not Your Grandma’s Butter Tart”
Pro-tips: If you ever get a chance to try Chef Leroy’s Ube Miso Cheesecake - do it!! And make a reservation for golden hour, the space is magical atop the stunning (Calgary’s first Michelin Key hotel).

My personal favs were the prawn toast with coconut curry shrimp bisque (so much shrimp flavour!), the cabbage with luscious brown butter sauce, and the wagyu beef tart. The cocktails were exceptional - Banh Mi Martini, Nuoc Cham Gimlet, and Lam’s Ca Phe were all well balanced and delicious!

The execution is spot on from the crispy jeon (seasonal pancake), buttery jwipo (file fish), and the comforting, clean gomtang with thin slices of pork, rice and barley that still have a slight bite to the texture.

We chose the Portuguese menu for the tapas alone: salt cod fritters, bacon-wrapped dates, and grilled octopus. I’ve had all these before - solid options!
This set also came with a fresh tomato and bocconcini salad, grilled branzino, and Portuguese seafood rice. That rice was loaded with scallops, mussels, prawns, and squid! The branzino was a highlight - seasoned so well with crispy skin.
It was already a lot of food, but I can’t go to Bodega without their garlic prawns and wanted their popular grilled sardines.
We packed up leftovers to save room for their warm custardy pasteis de nata — a must! #hosted

Highlights from our incredible meal: Cheesy Puffs, Little Gem Salad, Steak Frites (those FRIES!), the cocktails (loved the All’s Well highball), and all the desserts - the beloved French Toast, Citrus Cognac Parfait with sponge toffee, and Salted Chocolate Mousse.
Kudos to the talented team for a well executed friends and family dinner We are excited to come back. Francine’s is now open for lunch and dinner.

Thank you for all the love for Luna’s daily morning window routine! In our neighbourhood she’s known by many as the “dog in the window”. 😆
For 12 years, Gracie filled our hearts and our home with so much love and energy. She greeted us at the door for most of her life by excitedly squeaking a stuffy, butt wiggling and tail wagging so hard. For a small dog, she had such big feelings and enthusiasm for the simple joys of life - late night dancing in the kitchen, chicken soup, cheese, dinner parties, mountain walks, and travels to see family. She slept in as long as we let her, and was the most perfect girl. It will be impossible to fill the huge void her passing has left in our family.
She came to us a little timid and hopeful, but it’s likely her smarts and cautious survival instincts helped her safely get from the streets of California to our home in Alberta. We are thankful to every shelter and volunteer that brought her to us.
Truthfully, I’ve dreaded this moment since the day she came home with us from. We loved this dog so much, I knew our grief would be deep. But as we feel this immense heart ache, I know that our ability to grieve is also a privilege and testament to the big love we shared with our little girl.
We shared her story and spirit here and are grateful for the love so many of you gave to Gracie and us over the years.
