Verdrängung obdachloser Personen aus dem öffentlichen Raum hat viele Gesichter. Wenn sich beispielsweise auf einem öffentlichen Platz keine einzige Sitzgelegenheit auffindet, liegt das in Regel nicht daran, dass ein/e Architekt*in hier etwas vergessen hat, sondern stellt ein sehr bewusstes Handeln dar, das dafür sorgt, dass sich Obdachlose dort nicht aufhalten. Die Fachwelt spricht dabei von sog. „defensiver Architektur“.
Unsichtbare Formen und Methoden der Verdrängung von obdachlosen Menschen und Gewalt an wohnungslosen Personen stellen keine Einzelfälle dar. Obdachlose auszugrenzen und im Stadtbild unsichtbar machen zu wollen, ist keine Unterstützung für die Betroffenen, man muss ihnen helfen. Es entstand die Idee, einen Preis – Die Goldene Keule – für den obdachlosenfeindlichsten Ort Berlins zu vergeben, um die gängige Praxis bei der Verdrängung obdachloser Personen zu beschreiben, auf das Unrecht aufmerksam zu machen und Politiker*innen an ihre Verantwortung zu erinnern. Umso mehr freut es mich, in diesem Jahr Schirmherr der Goldenen Keule sein. Mir haben Begegnungen mit obdachlosen Personen geholfen, meine eigenen Vorurteile abzubauen.
Ich bin davon überzeugt, dass, wenn sich die Menschen mit dem Thema Obdachlosigkeit befassen, ein aufgeklärteres Bild entsteht und dadurch Lösungsansätze gefunden werden können.
