I was quite shocked, as this statement clearly means that Meta is absolutely convinced that my pictures serve prostitution. Moreover, with this innocent-looking short sentence, they have labeled me as a pimp while also suggesting my models being hookers.
Despite feeling quite frustrated, I decided to request a review for my account. A few days later, Meta acknowledged their mistake, saying: “We’re sorry that we’ve got this wrong and that you weren’t able to use Instagram for a while”.
Throughout my 20 years in photography, I hardly came across anything more disrespectful and offensive as being accused of promoting prostitution through my art, while Meta's apology only focuses on the temporary inconvenience of not being able to use Instagram. Seriously? Is that their sole concern?
In the Community Guidelines, Meta writes: “We want Instagram to continue to be an authentic and safe place for inspiration and expression. Post only your own photos and videos, and always follow the law. Respect everyone on Instagram.”
Absolutely, Meta, I totally agree, please make Instagram a safe place by keeping the community free from offenses and treat everyone with utmost respect!
