Can I share a story with you, if you have the time?
Back in our rental kitchen in the height of this small business booming, I arrived for the start of the delivery shift to find the walk-in cooler was not in fact cool, and had broken some time in the night. Our cheese was relatively food safe- as a fermented product in breathable packaging, it had a bigger window to be at room temp- but I still made the tough decision to NOT sell and not stock our retailers. I just couldn’t risk it. But I immediately tossed them all in the freezer and then shared about it on my instagram stories and the community responded swiftly and wholeheartedly. We had people stopping by all day to grab free cheese wheels. I wouldn’t accept payments from anyone even though many of you insisted. But that didn’t stop you from coming in with something to offer! I ended up going home that day with a hoard of gifts ranging from bottles of wine, to handmade baskets, gift cards, earrings, pre rolls, and anything else of equal or greater value to a cashew cheese wheel. And that warmed my little heart. Even warmer than the walk-in was that morning.
