Now, don't get me wrong, 1K seam sealer is good. It definitely has its place. I've been using it on many of my repairs lately. But, in my opinion, the 2K is far better, especially when you're looking for that factory finish.
One of the biggest reasons I'm switching back is the flow. The 2K OEM match seam sealer, when paired with the OEM match wing tip, just flows out so much smoother and faster. It's very satisfying to lay down a bead that's consistent and clean, which is super important for achieving that professional look.
Then there's the drying time. With 2K, it dries in 15 minutes. This means I can send it to paint right away. With 1K, I had to wait until the next day. Time is money, especially if you're flat rate.
And, in my opinion, the 2K OEM match seam sealer simply looks better. It mimics the factory appearance extremely well, which is the hardest thing to do when repairing a vehicle. If you're after that OEM look, 2K is the way to go. I highly recommend giving 3M 2K OEM match seam sealer paired with 2K wing tips a try. Remember, practice makes perfect. 🍻
