we had the best time yesterday eating pasta & people watching at | INVITE

Massimo is a beautiful cosy Italian restaurant set right by the riverside with the most incredible views. They are serving up some of my favourite plates I’ve tried so far in Brisbane - their new tortellini bolognese and their buttermilk panacotta were to die for. I was sold on their cacio e pepe at the mention of a pecorino cheese wheel & their sand crab trenette was so tasty.

If you love pasta & people watching then is the perfect spot for you. Our waiter Piran was super friendly, talked us through the menu and ensured that our glasses were never empty.

Have you heard of the Scenic Rim Road Trip?

Only 2 hours from Brisbane, it is the perfect trip for a long weekend and I’ll share some of our favourite spots along the way. If you’re Scottish and looking for a fresh pint of on tap, skip to the end!

Day 1:
- Lake Moogerah
- Kalbar

Day 2:
- Mount Cordeaux
- Queen Mary Falls
- Killarney

Day 3:
- Mount Tamborine
- Fox and Hounds pub

The roads are extremely winding at points, but can be fun if you’re a confident driver and you’re not in a rush.

Next month, is the so it’s the perfect time to check it out!

Dark Shepherd is a wood-fired Mediterranean restaurant in the heart of Brisbane | AD

We had the most incredible meal this week eating some well-loved classics - spanakopita and delicious wood-fired scallops. Alongside some bold flavours on their lamb kleftiko and wood-fired cabbage dish.

The slow cooked lamb shoulder was falling apart and served alongside potato, carrot and kefalograviera cheese. As for the cabbage, this was an incredible vegetarian dish with umami flavours from tahini dressing and spice from the chilli.

To finish we had their famous knafeh dessert to share. Delicious kataifi pastry layered with sweet cheese and soaked in rose syrup served with ice cream and pistachio sauce on the side (for me).

The restaurant was packed out with special celebrations, couples and work colleagues. It is the perfect restaurant to share small or large plates and catch up with friends and family.

On a small side note, were extremely professional and accommodating with Sam’s nut allergy. They talked us through the menu and altered dishes where possible to avoid allergens. You would think this was standard for most restaurants in 2026 however, there are few and far between that deal with allergies with this level of care.

A delicious date night meal, we will definitely be back!

Last nights dinner was an Italian meatball sandwich from in South Brisbane before going to see the new ā€˜Michael’ movie.

My partner Sam opted for the veggie meatball sandwich which was also great. It was a simple yet delicious sub with lovely fresh lettuce, tomatoes and a slight balsamic glaze served on soft tiger bread.

have a great selection of meat, fish and veggie sandwiches. We chose to go for the regular size and it was massive - I would love to see a large! You can make your sandwich a meal with a side of chips or mozzarella dippers and a drink.

Thanks to for the recommendation on this place!

I’m on a search for the best brunch spots in Brisbane and we started strong with

This place was so busy at 9am, it was queued out the door. are famous for their brunch and their Thai pop up kitchen

I was so excited to try their Thai fusion brunch dish ā€˜chilli basil scramble’ and it was incredible. Fried chicken, pad kra pao sauce, chilli scramble & jasmine rice. I am a big savoury brunch person and this dish was a dream.

Sam had their spinach and sweetcorn fritters which were equally delicious lying on a bed of pumpkin purƩe and topped with a poached egg - yum.

have started our brunch search strong and it will be difficult to compete.

After work last Friday, we drove 4 hours north of Brisbane to Bundaberg to go on - a boat trip to the southern point of the Great Barrier Reef.

Our luck couldn’t have been better, we swam with green sea turtles, saw hawksbill turtles from the glass bottom boat and best of all we stumbled upon some hatchlings making their first steps towards the water.

was a great day out and I would highly recommend the experience to anyone. We stayed at which was the perfect accommodation for our trip.

Some of my highlights from our 2 day trip to North Stradbroke Island or ā€œStraddieā€. We stayed overnight at which was a great location and cheap option near Point lookout.

Straddie is only a 25 min boat ride from Brisbane and has so much to offer. We saw wild koalas and kangaroos and we ate some delicious food. It’s also a great place to spot whales from late May to early November.

If you want to have a chance of spotting wild kangaroos then go to the North Gorge Walk at Point Lookout and if you want to see wild koalas, head to Amity.

You can get around the island by bus, and I would recommend planning your day in advance as the busses become less frequent throughout the day. The bus drivers were incredible and gave us a guided tour of the island during the trips!

So guys, I’ve been keeping a couple of big secrets and now feels like the right time to tell you all…

was a fun Instagram page I started in 2019 with 0 followers and it’s grown into such a community of over 5,000 of you. The goal was always to promote local Dundee businesses and encourage people to try somewhere new. I’m so grateful to every single one of you who tagged along on this journey with me and supported my page. I have had the honour of meeting so many incredible business owners and fellow foodies in and around Dundee which has been incredibly fun.

This week, I moved to Australia and will be working here for 12 months. I absolutely love Dundee and will miss it LOADS. However, I’m hoping to take you guys on my food / travel journey around Australia and I’m sure I’ll be back to Dundee in the not so distant future.

This page has always been about the food and will continue to do so however, after 6 years of anonymity, I’m ready to share more of what goes on behind the scenes and perhaps branch out into voice over videos which I’ve been hoping to do for a while! I still have lots of Scottish food spots still to share, so this page will be a mix of both countries for a while.

On that note, hello I’m Daisy, I run and g’night from down under šŸ‡¦šŸ‡ŗšŸ‘‹šŸ¼
