A little before and after (though still not completed) look at our back garden transformation🪴I will definitely find the before photo when it was a massive pile of house rubble for a (hopefully) end of summer post when the last raised bed is complete and a little gate which I’m yet to make, is in place.
It’s not a massive transformation, though it feels huge to us. The work that has gone into this space has been a real labour of love; learning how to build dry stone dykes was a real struggle to someone chaotic like me, who wilts under the requirement to be neat but my partner absolutely aced it with his spirit levels and laser beams (course he did). You can definitely tell his work apart from mine 🤭
The original cottage was my grandparents. A late 70s build incorporating an old peedie Orkney stone built cottage, home to both my great grandmothers since the 1950s. My children were babies in my grandparents version of this cottage as we made it our first home, the happiest of days. In 2012 we put our own stamp on this address but you bet I clung onto as much as I could and protected with my life the trees, blackcurrant bushes, the serving hatch in the kitchen (why are you keeping that!?), the beautiful stones - the mantle in the before photo will appear yet, watch this space ☺️
