Natalie & Daulton’s fall, Sonoma Wedding day
To create wedding films that dig deeper, it requires me to step into my client’s story, what got them there, the quiet thoughts, the way their love feels..
But first, it requires a level of vulnerability from my clients to let me in on. Something that I don’t take for granted and feel so privileged to be entrusted with.
Nat & Dault.. I just adore you both. Thank you for displaying vulnerability, pursuing love in all you do and letting me into witness and capture it all.
Without sounding overly cliche, their day in was more than just a day. It was the culmination of joy in the midst, of resilience, being fully present and the way love keeps us connected and knows no bounds.
“Thanks Scottie.” In their film is a tribute to Natalie’s brother, Scottie. Who passed away from cancer. He was diagnosed with cancer and while he was receiving treatment, he decided he wanted to help raise funds and gifts for the other kids there who needed a pick me up in the midst of their own treatment journeys. Absolutely beautiful. Scottie sadly passed away and his story helped inspire his family start a foundation in his name and to honor his legacy—. Daulton was an active MLB player at the time (another story of resilience and strength is his baseball career that you should look into) and decided to go to a scottie’s gift fundraising event that Natalie was attending.
Their connection began there. Nothing short of meant to be.
This is only the teaser and a small glimpse into their story. I can’t wait to get them and so many of my patient and loving couples their films. Getting to witness your day as a documentarian is the greatest gift and “job” I could ask for.
So thank you both (and all of my clients—past, current or future) for trusting me. Hugs on hugs on hugs
With love,
Mads

This month, I lost both my grandma & my dog within a few days of one another.
If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you know how special my grandma & her home were to me and how much they shaped my perspective on life & documenting.
Her home, and her singing throughout it, were a consistent, safe haven for me my whole life. I could say so much, but to keep it short for now— I will see her in music & flowers and I will miss her dearly.
We got our dog Milo right after we got married when he was just a baby. We truly grew up alongside him. We lost him to lymphoma, after 4 months undergoing treatment. He was our world and joy and we miss him terribly. I told him that he would “live in the sunshine forever” and I feel him there with me now.
Both of these incredible pillars in my life sadly passed away while we were traveling for a wedding. This was incredibly sad. But alongside that pain, my job was a comfort. I get to document people in love and the ones they love. I get to offer them the gift of memory, and that hit home even harder on this trip. It made stepping in and “going to work” organic and innate. It helps that I serve some of the most genuinely kind people.
I had the privilege of filming my grandma off and on over the past three years. Through many different seasons, she let me capture her around her house— just being her. I’m so grateful to have even just a glimpse of her esssence captured within that footage. Milo was all smiles and the most photogenic, sunshine boy. I’ll cherish every image and video we took of him and his crooked front teeth, curly hairs after he got a bath, sandy toes, and his wiggle butt.
Life is precious & art is so reflective of our own emotions and perspective. I’ll continue creating with all of this in mind & with them in my heart forever!
Thanks for being here. This season has beena lot, but I’m looking forward to sharing more work soon. Creating with forever in mind, always
With love,
Mads
As an editor, I do my best to pack a punch into my films where I can (quick grabs, fast pace cuts, and eye catching moment one after the other), but the best thing about long form films (especially wedding films), is that it allows you to fully sit in each moment, word, and chapter of your day.
Keeping it visually interesting is important, but it’s the moments that matter the most.
I edit in a way that seamlessly ties together all of the chapters of your day, with words that carry you through the story of your love and life right along with it.
Weaving together Tasha’s friend singing country roads as she walked down the aisle with imagery that paired with it and pure feelings spoken from T&B about how that was intentional
An impromptu sing along to “that’s amore” with your family and friends as the energy ramps and I can highlight the intentionality put on the food, wine and Italian dinner vibes they wanted
You just can’t go wrong with super 8mm captures.. I really leaned into color grading this film with warmth in mind and love how timeless these film shots pair with everything.
“Breathe it all in, love it all out” — a quote from Tasha’s late father that was revisited again and again
Tasha sharing about her father, Robert and her love for the memories she shared with him in Telluride paired with her thoughtful vows tying aspen trees to her promises to Brad
Brad’s out of this world vows…. You just need to listen to these in their entirety
The energy ramps up and you are right back on the dance floor, watching Tasha sing fall out boy on a stage while her closest family roots her on, they crowd surf, share ice cream licks, and boogie the night away to a live band
And wrapping it all in a bow with their last dance.. a nod to Brad’s vows
It alllllll needs a moment. I could create a million short videos from this day, but for a moment, I just want to let their full film shine.
Full film is up on YouTube!
So everyone meet Tasha & Brad. You’re going to adore them.
With love,
Mads
These things go hand in hand and will live in beautiful synchronicity in my mind forever.
Their day radiated warmth, deeply planted roots, and a sort of awe that I have kept with me since.
I was going to just share short, little moments with you all at first before sharing this teaser film, but I just couldn’t help myself. I will be sharing their full film shortly, but for now, here’s an in depth glimpse.
There is SO much story and narrative from this day weaved into their film. There are little nods to it in this Teaser Film and I can’t wait for you to get to fully immerse yourself into their words and sentiments.
“Any dry eyes out there?” was the perfect line to bridge both the deep joy and emotional depth their day held.
And if you’re a John Denver fan, you’ll enjoy the beginning of their full film too;)
I hope you enjoy!
With love,
Madeleine

It’s amazing how many feels and emotions you can pull from footage just by what sounds, cuts, pacing and flow you wrap it all together with
This footage in April & Yemu’s Hawaii Destination Wedding Film is paired so beautifully alongside deep emotional vows and a moving score (blended with natural sounds from the day, of course)
But I actually couldn’t pull myself away from editing something entirely different with this today
Creativity can spark in random busrts and places for me. As an artist who needs to stick to a pretty regimented schedule, allowing myself time to dive into editing just for me is so important.
I feel so lucky I get to pair my creative passion for film and storytelling with my job! It is a dream come true, really.
And goollllllyyy who else fell in love with this song in 500 Days of Summer way back when? There is just something so carefree, nostalgic and unique about it.
I knew it had to go with this footage.
Hope you love it and “have fun” today!
With love,
Mads
Their entire day was beautifully spoken in Chinese. I didn’t receive the translations back until some time after their celebration, and when I first saw Kexin use the word “absurd,” I thought — this must be a mistake. In English, “absurd” often feels harsh or comical, even dismissive.
But after sitting with their words a little longer, I realized it was actually perfect.
For them, “absurd” meant daring, whimsical, joyfully unconventional — a love that doesn’t follow the script, but writes its own. And in that beautiful absurdity, they’ve created something entirely their own.
They crafted a day that so uniquely represented them (rain and all), and their fashion and artistic eye added such depth to the already intricately unique landscape that is Joshua Tree.
Joshua Tree itself is beautifully absurd in its own way. There’s nowhere like it — wild and raw, surreal and sacred… Much like the energy Kristy & Kexin brought to it. Joshua Trees are some of the most unique trees with deep rooted history. They are what they are— bold and eye catching… Elements Kristy and Kexin brought into the design of their day as well.
Their day all came together in a way that just made sense for them — naturally, effortlessly, and entirely their own.
I hope you feel inspired to be beautifully absurd today!
With love,
Madeleine

Joshua Tree wedding, wedding video, wedding film,
They just had their first look, where they took time to talk about their feelings and how grateful they were for “perfect weather” on the island, right before walking down the aisle.
In this part of the film, weaving together their guests arriving, paired with moments for their details, and natural sounds of the island was a way to ground the film back into reality. Almost as if you were experiencing that part of the day in real time.
Then, you are upstairs in April’s getting ready suite. Witnessing a grounding moment between her and her mom, who was so proud to call her “my daughter”.
The film picks up into dream land after that when Yemu starts his vows, and you get swept away into the feeling.
Grounding and dreaming and grounding and dreaming and repeat that X3948473
It’s a way I love structuring my films so my clients can experience the power of film bringing you into a feeling, while also grounding you in all of the senses of a moment, as if you were experiencing it all over again.
If you didn’t watch April & Yemu’s entire film, I’m sure I’ll share it all in little bits at some point haha. But if you can sit through a whole wedding film, I highly suggest immersing yourself into their story. You can watch it on here or on YouTube.
Hope you enjoy!
With love,
Mads
Also, I have to shout out for her incredible work. Cindy is otherworldly when it comes to floral arrangements and bringing visions to life. You’ll see much of her beautiful work featured in these clips.
Filmmaker of the Year &
Film of the Year
It feels surreal!
Just five years into my business, and it has surpassed anything I could have ever dreamed. I am feeling immensely grateful and proud to have created something that my soul is so tied to
Lindsay & Sophie’s film won Film of the Year. I haven’t shared it on here yet, but I plan to.
Their film isn’t flashy or over the top. It’s simple and full of “warm your heart” moments, and a deeply rooted and beautiful story. The fact that this film was chosen goes to show how much good story telling matters in wedding films.
As a wedding filmmaker, I get the opportunity time and time again to capture the timeless essence of a beautiful human experience. I will forever preach the importance of what we do.
Sincerely, sincerely grateful for the vulnerability and trust of my clients & your sweet support
Much love and heaps of thanks,
Mads
Also I had to include my favorite song to this post. It’s carried me through so many seasons of life (good and tough) and that feels really special to this moment too.
Thank you to all of the amazing couples who trust me to tell their stories! It takes vulnerability to invite me in and that doesn’t go unnoticed.
On the other end, it takes immense vulnerability showing up for my work and believing in it. To create something with confidence in knowing my unique voice and “why” is so so so worth it. And that being received with so much love.
Having so much support from people who take the time to watch my films, and even other vendors who believe in me and refer me to their couples, always means so much. My love and gratitude is endless!
The core of Films by Madeleine is centered around your unique story and telling that with artistry, honesty and depth. I pour so much of my own heart and perspective for the world into my films, and love that I get to partner with clients who value those same things.
Accolades like this can seem trivial, but are so so encouraging and I’m just gonna leave it at that before I ramble too long hehe
Thank you for this encouragement!
With love,
Madeleine

Lists aside, this work fuels my passion and creativity for story telling and people. It feels so exciting to be recognized for the films that I create, because they really do stem from me as a person— My creative eye and my view of the world.
How beautiful to feel seen and to know that I’ve done these stories justice
I found a photo taken of me at the first wedding I ever filmed many moons ago, and had to pause and put myself back in her shoes. I saw the eagerness to perfect a craft I felt so passionate about and the drive to push myself and challenge myself into something that, at that time, felt scary.
I am feeling very proud of past me for continuing the journey and sticking with it. And proud of who I’ve become and what my films have become in the process!
This acted as a sweet reminder of that, and I feel very humbled.
Tbh I saw the post and thought they just used my film for the cover photo and was excited about just that, later realizing I was actually being recognized on their list lol.
Sincerely grateful
With love,
Mads
