I’m excited to announce that I will be teaching 5th grade again this year but at a new school!!!🎉 Things were made official today and I couldn’t be more excited. T-5 days till I get to meet my new class! Classroom tour coming soon!🤩
Here’s a little tip for you!💡If you are staying in your same classroom next year, cover your builtin boards and books with garbage bags or plastic table cloths to preserve them! After my first year of teaching, I came back to all my beautiful builtin boards warped from the carpet cleaning! Wet carpet + warm classroom = classroom sauna 😩 Don’t make the same mistake!

What are some of the things you do before leaving your classroom for the summer?☀️
✨ELA CENTERS✨ One of my favorite center rotations has been pairing reading choice menus with 📚

Vooks is an add-free, kid friendly, animated storybook website that is FREE to teachers for their first year of use!

For this center rotation, students get to choose a book from the Vooks digital library and complete 3 questions from these fantastic reading choice menus by ✏️ It’s the perfect combo and my students have been loving it! #ad
Loving how our food chain projects turned out! 🦁🐮🌱 The perfect project to wrap up our ecosystems unit!

If you recreate this project in your classroom, it’s helpful to do a mini lesson on symmetry beforehand! We did 1 animal a day over the course of 3 days. They turned out so much better this year by following that system!

Thank you for the inspiration!
Math ➕ February = 💗💗💗

Math in the month of February is always so much more fun! The options for hands on learning are endless.

My class snacked on heart candies while solving heart task cards around the room and it was the best! Such a simple way to make things a little more festive and exciting!

What is your favorite lesson you do during the month of February to make things a little sweeter?!

💗Task cards found in my TPT store (link in bio💗
THIS! 🙌🏼

I’ve had this quote printed out on my desk for the past few years because it’s such a good reminder. When I saw that made an even cuter sign, I had to have it! Thank you for the sweet addition to my desk💗
Looking for an easy and inexpensive way to spice up review sessions? Your answer is Dollar Store fly swatters 🪰

You would not believe how excited my 5th graders get for these pieces of plastic on a stick! They instantly make review so much more fun.

Besides using them for states and capital review, I like to use them with a game I call “spelling splat”. I use Google Slides to write spelling words out 4 different ways. Whoever hits the correct spelling of the word, wins! So easy and engaging!
My class just finished our decimal units and we’re moving right along to fractions! ✏️ One things for certain, 👏🏼we 👏🏼will 👏🏼not👏🏼forget👏🏼 what we just learned about decimals!!! To avoid this, I like to work in a daily decimal warm ups every few days. They are quick and it keeps our skills up! If you’re interested in using these in your classroom, check out my TPT store!

Celebrating #rockyourschool in a tasty way this year! 🍕🍴My 5th graders and I had the best day learning all the things with an Italian cafe twist. We did a book tasting, daily fix it sentences with pasta noodles, French fry math, and ended the day making butter like we were back in colonial times. Engagement levels were off the charts!
