My Esperanza top is done! Crafted from our fingering/4ply Harvest Moon colourway from our Sky Collection, this crochet top is perfect for summer or for layering on cooler days. Our woollen-spun, non-superwash yarn is great for the project like this - lofty texture but not heavy.

Pattern: Esperanza by
Published in: Spring/Summer 2026 (it’s a free pattern!)

I made the 3rd size and used about 975m of yarn (so 5 skeins). For reference, I have 38in chest measurement and am about 5’7” with a long torso. I followed the pattern without any modifications.

We will bring the garment and will have the yarn available when we attend the Canberra Wool Expo this weekend at The Old Bus Depot Markets. We spin this yarn in 8 different colourways, so we are sure to have a colour that suits your palette.

Bit delayed in sharing my makes but I love the raglan detail and the coloured flecks of my most recent addition to the summer wardrobe 😍

Lightweight yarn projects always test my patience and it got put aside for a long while when I ran out of yarn 😅
Some motivation of warmth to wear it in on holidays pushed me to finally get it finished.

My recently finished Cloudesley! Beautiful pattern by Isabell Kraemer

I made the short sleeve version in size 3. The only modification I made was a 10 row 1x1 rib hem - I didn’t even add any length to the pattern! I used 4.3 skeins of our lovely 4ply/fingering weight Indigo Bunting colourway from the Sky Collection. This yarn is available online and we will have it in person at the Canberra Wool Expo 23-24 May at the Old Bus Depot Markets.

I love the fit and all the little details. This one will definitely become a wardrobe staple!

We've had some new folks join our journey here on social media, so we thought it was time for a quick post to introduce ourselves. We are Clare and Paul Thornley and we own Fibre Arts Shed - a mini woolen mill and fibre arts supplies retail business at Jilliby on Darkinjung Country on the NSW Central Coast hinterland. We love sourcing and milling locally-grown wool and alpaca (and even mohair!) fibre and also import high quality fibres from the UK, New Zealand and India. We've been running this business for the past 7.5 years - first as a hobby business, then as Clare's full-time job and for the last two years it's been our sole source of income. We live on a small semi-rural property with our two boys and our two sheep (Bob is the brown one and Madam is the white - they are Polwarth X Corriedale and their fleece is beautiful!) Clare holds a PhD in historical musicology from New York University and Paul studied physics before building a career in database development for universities. Now we are full-time small business owners! We sell online, in person at markets and events and by appointment at our shed. We also offer a fibre milling service (prices and details are on our website). We are working towards a goal of becoming a zero-waste mill and have a few products available that help support this goal - Yarn Over Yarn, Sustaina-Roving, Mill Waste Rolags and Carded Stuffing Waste. We've got a few other plans in the pipeline to help us fully achieve our goal - so stay tuned! We love seeing what our customers create with fibre purchased from our shop and mill - so please tag us in your posts so we can see your amazing creations. Thank you for supporting our small, family-owned business!

📸 Courtesy of our local Central Coast Council - we are honoured to be a part of an upcoming exhibition entitled "When These Mountains Speak" that highlights the stories of farmers and the rural community on the NSW Central Coast.
