For me, Iāve never loved running. In fact, I still donāt! š
Two years ago my friend convinced me to sign up for a #hyrox race. Up to that point, I BARELY ever ran. Not only thatāI would get hip / knee pain after just 1 mile.
Important noteāIf I commit to something, Iāll do whatever is necessary to get it done.
First I addressed the pain issue. Shout out to and her company for her help. She was a friend of a friend I went to see on a whim and after one visit she gave me the insights I needed to fix my pain problem.
Then I needed to learn HOW to run. You may think you know how, but until youāve had an experienced runner AND a top run coach lay their eyes on youā¦well, letās just say youād be surprised at what you donāt know.
After working with and getting to meet and learn from his expert run coach I now had the tools at my disposal.
Finally, I needed to get over the hump of hating running. That mightāve been the hardest part. But as I mentioned above, if I commit to something Iāll do whatever it takes. You canāt possibly succeed in a race without consistent running and I really wanna f***ing succeed.
2+ years and 5 Hyrox races later, I finally likeānot love running. Itās still a work in progress, so days like today are critical in keeping me always moving forward.
On to the next milestone. š»
