🌊 Sarakiniko Beach - bright turquoise water during midday, dreamy rosy colors during sunset, and fewer crowds during sunrise
🏰 Plaka Castle - We had the entire place to ourselves during sunrise and it felt so peaceful. If you’re coming for sunset, arrive at least an hour earlier than the actual sunset time because the sun disappears behind the mountains much earlier than expected 🌅
Also, once you’re in town, follow the signs toward Plaka Castle since the direct route on Google Maps wasn’t very accurate.
🌅 Catch sunset in Klima — the colorful fishermen’s houses make it feel completely different from the typical blue-and-white Greek villages.
💙 Relax at Firopotamos Beach — beautiful for swimming during the day and also one of our favorite sunrise spots next to the little church
🐙 Mandrakia - have lunch at Medusa Restaurant. The grilled octopus and swordfish souvlaki were incredible!
🩵 Plaka- wander through the picturesque town with its tiny white alleys, bougainvillea, and little cafés
🍽️ Enjoy Greek food by the sea - one of our favorites was Milos Rustic Souvlaki in Adamantas. They had the best moussaka we’ve ever had!
🏝️ Tsigrado Beach - a secluded beach in the south of the island. However you do need to climb down ladders to reach it
⛪️ Pollonia - a peaceful and quiet little village in the north of the island; visit the lovely Greek Orthodox church

🌅 Go at different times of the day — we visited during sunrise, midday, and sunset, and each one felt completely different. Midday gives you the most stunning turquoise water, sunset turns the rocks rosy pink under the dreamy sky, and sunrise is perfect if you want quiet moments with fewer people.
☀️ There’s absolutely no shade! Bring towels, water, and lots of sunscreen. We both got sunburnt after being there for two hours.
📆 Avoid high season if you can (July & August) — we visited at the end of May and it wasn’t crowded at all. There was plenty of space for everyone to enjoy the beach.
🌊 There’s a free parking lot right at the entrance, then about a 10-minute walk to the beach and cliff-jumping area.
🪨 The rocks can be hard and sharp, and they get extremely hot during the day. Definitely wear or bring your shoes with you.
🚗 If you arrive in Milos by ferry, it’s just a 10 min’ drive from the port town- Adamas. There’s also buses taking you to the beach from the ferry terminal (one way for 2 EUR, cash only). Check Milos Bus website for the timetable.

As someone from Taiwan, I’ve always felt like this country is one of Asia’s most underrated destinations. While people often flock to places like Japan, Thailand, or Indonesia, Taiwan still flies under the radar (or just as a short layover), even though this small island has so much to offer.
🌊🍃 You can find tropical beaches in the south, misty mountain forests and tea plantations, vibrant night markets with incredible food, and peaceful temples glowing with lanterns 🏮
👉 Taiwan also has a long standing tourism imbalance where outbound tourism far exceeds inbound tourism. In a time when many destinations are struggling with overtourism, Taiwan still feels welcoming, relaxed, and easy to explore. Locals are genuinely happy to see international visitors enjoying their country (especially the food)!
🇹🇼 It’s also a place where you can travel relatively affordably, eat amazingly well, and experience beautiful places without huge crowds or tour groups everywhere.
Is Taiwan on your bucket list?

Taipei 101 is easily the most iconic landmark in Taipei! Alongside the famous photo spots, I also share some hidden spots that are only known to locals.
📸 Zhucun Izakaya
Apparently the most popular and photogenic Taipei 101 photo spot, and somehow more known among international tourists than locals.
The Japanese izakaya right next to the viewpoint also serves fantastic food.
📸 Elephant Mountain
A short 15–20 min hike leads to the famous Xiangshan Six Rocks with incredible Taipei 101 views ⛰️
👉 It gets pretty busy during sunset, so we went during sunrise and had the whole place to ourselves.
Tip: check the live webcam on YouTube beforehand to see the exact weather conditions.
📸 Huian Park
A quiet little park with fantastic Taipei 101 views and only about a 7-minute walk from the izakaya spot
📸 Thumb Lookout Mountain
Definitely our favorite Taipei 101 viewpoint!
It requires more hiking (around another hour from Elephant Mountain Six Rocks) but the panoramic sunset views over Taipei are absolutely worth it 🌇
📸 Songzhi Park
One of the best places to photograph Taipei 101 together with cherry blossoms 🌸
👉 Best time: mid to late February
📸 Da’an Road
A relaxed neighborhood close to Da’an Forest Park, the biggest park in Taipei City.
Great for casual street photography with Taipei vibes.
📸 Elephant Mountain Observation Deck
Located right next to Six Rocks. Stay after sunset for an incredible night view of Taipei 101 lights ✨
📸 Songren Road
Right beside the izakaya spot with beautiful soft lighting during sunset, perfect for cinematic Taipei 101 shots.

Taipei is the perfect base for unforgettable day trips filled with misty forests, lantern lit villages, and breathtaking coastlines! Here are some of my favorite escapes from the city:
🏮Jiufen 九份
Obviously the most touristy (and crowded) spot near Taipei, but also absolutely magical once the red lanterns glow after sunset
👉stay overnight if you can. The lanterns stay lit until around 10 PM, and after 8 PM the crowds thin out dramatically.
🛳️ Keelung 基隆
A harbor city less than an hour from Taipei with a totally different vibe. My favorite area is Zhengbin Fishing Harbor with its colorful waterfront houses
👉Don’t miss Keelung Night Market for some of the best local street food.
🌲Taipingshan National Forest Recreation Area 太平山
A bit farther from Taipei, but 100% worth it for the peaceful mountain scenery.
👉The Jiancing Historic Trail is perfect for walking through misty forests and alongside old logging railways
🌊Yinyang Sea 陰陽海
Just 15 minutes from Jiufen by car. Famous for the surreal natural phenomenon where yellow-gold and deep blue waters meet side by side
👉The long stairs beneath the nearby elementary school offer fantastic sea views.
🛕Shitoushan Quanhua Temple 獅頭山勸化堂
Absolutely one of my favorite temples in Taiwan. Hidden among the mountains and incredibly peaceful
Visitors can also enjoy traditional Buddhist vegetarian meals here.
🚏Tiaoshi Coast Bus Stop 跳石海岸
Come on a sunny day for the most spectacular ocean backdrop behind a bus stop. It’s getting more and more popular though (it was so quiet when I visited 2 years ago with my parents)
👉perfect to combine with Yehliu Geopark; grab a coffee at the café across the bus stop
🌸 Wuji Tianyuan Temple 無極天元宮
Known for its iconic 5-story pagoda and stunning cherry blossoms
📆Best time to visit: late January to mid-February (behind the pagoda) or mid-March to early April (in front of the pagoda)
#taipeitravel #taiwantravel #taiwantrip
Taiwan is home to more than 15,000 temples, mostly Taoist with strong Buddhist influence. We visited some of the most beautiful and unique ones across the country. Many of them are peaceful and without tourist crowds! Instead, you will only see locals quietly praying and lighting incense 🏮
👉Some temples in the countryside are massive complexes with multiple small temples, different halls for various deities, and walking paths lined with lanterns. So do dedicate more time to explore!
👉Temples in Taiwan are not just spiritual places- they’re community hubs as well! Many offer FREE public toilets (something you rarely find in most European churches), drinking water, and warm tea 🫖
🌱At Shitoushan Quanhua Temple, we were even given free delicious vegetarian lunchboxes (small contributions to temples are always appreciated)
If you’re traveling to Taiwan, don’t just tick off landmarks. Step into these temples, slow down, and experience a quieter, more spiritual side of the island ✨

🏖️Kenting

🌅Sun Moon Lake
- Ci‘en Pagoda (慈恩塔): climb up to the top of the pagoda for panoramic lake views
🛕Puli

So thankful for all the places this year took me.
Happy New Year to everyone 🎊 May 2026 be full of new destinations, big dreams, and unforgettable journeys.
Have you started planning your 2026 trips yet?
Just 30 minutes from Düsseldorf main station and an easy day trip from Cologne. It feels much more intimate and relaxed than the Christmas market in Düsseldorf city center! I personally enjoy this one a lot more.
Open Friday to Sunday only, and this weekend ) is your last chance to visit this year. Don’t miss it or add this to your Christmas market list for next year 🎄✨
#schlossbenrath #düsseldorf #weihnachtsmarkt
There’s something special about the Aachen Christmas Market. Maybe it’s the beautiful old town. Maybe it’s being so close to Belgium and the Netherlands. Or maybe it’s the scent of Aachener Printen in the air (a dense spiced gingerbread) ✨!
This city is also just an hour away from Cologne and can be easily reached by regional train! In my opinion the food option here is limited and pricier, but the festive charm definitely makes up for it!
📆
Have you visited the Aachen Christmas market 🎄?
