This has to be the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Together, they weighed almost 16lbs and that doesn’t account for their individual placentas or fluid sacs. My body ached all over and my skin was literally tearing.
The overall exhaustion was possibly the worst, paired with the immense pressure and pain down there from their weight and it made keeping up with the kids nearly impossible all day long. Yet I had to, because if I sat down or got too comfy there was honestly a good chance that I wasn’t going to be able to get back up. I wish I would have been able to record the time that I was stuck in bed after grabbing a nap with Sawyer (2). I tried multiple times to heave my belly over to be able to get out but I was unsuccessful. I had to ask Sawyer to get Jesse off a work call. I would have called him, or taken a video… but my phone was on the nightstand too far out of reach. šŸ˜…
I waddled for what felt like months and had days where the pain felt unbearable, but I did everything in my power to remind myself how incredibly lucky I was to be keeping them on the inside so long.
Because no matter how hard it was on my body, it was nothing compared to how hard it must be for the nicu mamas out there. Those mamas have such strength šŸ’—
This is my fifth toddlerhood, and despite it being the busiest (thanks twins), in many ways it’s also the most relaxing.

** my biggest piece of advice, maybe the wrong advice? Is in the last sentences of this post. It’s helped me focus on what’s most important to me**

It’s easiest now; to pick my battles. I know where I want to put my energy and expecting them to want to sit still for an hour while we wait for food is not one of those things.

Soon enough they will sit for longer, keep busy colouring or just chatting about the days adventures when we are out to eat.
But now isn’t the time. They are 2 and they need (and want) me to hold them, to play playdough with them and to continuously hide the same toy in my fist over and over and over and act just as impressed when they find it.
It’s not that it isn’t tiring, because it sure is, but it’s easier now for me to appreciate it all knowing how quickly it passes by. I just have to look at their older brothers and sister and feel it so deeply. Soon enough the twins will be big kids and I won’t get this time back.

For any of the new mamas out there, don’t worry what others think if your little won’t stay still, if they constantly jump around or want to be on your lap. Don’t worry if they don’t act like adults, or like 10 year olds for that matter.

When I’m feeling self conscious in public I’ve always reminded myself that I (respectfully) care more about my children’s opinion of me than that of a stranger.

That helps guide my way šŸ’•
It’s said you become the average of the five people you spend the most time with, which makes us pretty lucky, considering our crew consists of these incredible kids.

They’ve schooled us on how to sweat the small stuff less and laugh a whole lot more, showing us the magic in everyday moments we used to overlook. Thanks to them, we learned to let go of what we can’t control and to embrace the wild, beautiful ride that is parenting head-on, with a lot less worry and a lot more wonder.

They’ve turned us into experts at finding joy in the mess, adventure in the mundane, and lessons in the chaos. Together we’re getting a daily masterclass in living fully, loving fiercely, and laughing loudly, no matter what life throws our way.

These 6 remind us that it’s not about keeping everything under control, but about making sure everyone feels loved through it all. They’ve taught us that the best moments often come from the unexpected, the unplanned, and the imperfect.

They’ve shown us that life doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful, it just needs to be lived together.

Does anyone else have a similar tradition?!?šŸŽ„ We’ve been doing this for 5 years now it’s one of my favourite holiday traditions.

We do our best to find ornaments made from local artisans and makers at each location and that best represent a favourite moment from that trip.

Every Dec 1st we then take a trip to a local tree farm to find the perfect Christmas tree and after we are home and warm we bring out the bins full of ornaments and talk about each and every one. The kids can usually remember where each ornament is from and even who picked it out on the trip!

The pictures aren’t needed, but we started adding little prints from our Instax and it’s so fun to look at a few special moments to help us remember even more (especially for the trips we took years ago that the littlests don’t remember).

I wish we would have started this tradition earlier, but I’m so thankful for the ones we’ve collected so far, the memories we’ve made and the time we slow down around the holidays each year to reflect on some of our favourite family moments.

Anyone do something similar? What’s your favourite holiday tradition?

Happy Holidays,
much love xo

I know I love this little life. šŸ’— And even with all of the big moments we’ve had in the last 12 weeks, it’s been the little moments; the bedtime stories, late night chats, family cooking, movie night snuggles and game nights that have meant the most.

šŸ“· this was as we were trying to get a picture of just the two of us, but the kids knew it should be a family photo 🄰
Magic in Cappadocia, Türkiye šŸ’—. I hardly recognize the two of us in a photo without all of the kids.

Jesse and I met in our third year of University and we fell hard, and fast. We moved in together after a month of dating and he proposed after only 6 months.

Everyone thought it was too rushed; that we were too young.

But we were sure it was right. These last 15 years haven’t all been easy. We’ve been through our fair share of challenges. And with 6 kids born in 8 years, 9 moves, countless house flips and renovations, being self employed, founding multiple businesses and plenty of travel we are constantly finding ourselves in situations where it could feel like too much.

And it would be- too much for either one of us alone. But together we’ve always felt like we can do anything. And that’s an amazing feeling and the type of support we try and show our kids too.

So even though when I first saw this picture I admittedly wished the kids were walking in there too, I’m so glad we got a capture of just the two of us.

And it deserves to live right here šŸ’—

Thank you 🄹
These last 12 weeks have been a dream come true, and this video encapsulates some of the incredible highlights we’ve had so far. šŸŒāœØ

Yet, amidst the breathtaking landscapes and laughter, there’s a truth that deserves acknowledgment—the unseen moments behind the scenes, the challenges that don’t make it to the highlights reel.
This video captures the wow, the wonder and the smiles, but it’s essential to recognize the worry, the tough moments and at times the tears that are an integral part of our journey too.

It’s during these challenges that I’m not reaching for my phone, but reaching for what matters most—my children, ensuring their comfort and security.

Because of that I often miss documenting the ā€˜lows’, but my intention is never to shield you all from them, but instead put my undivided attention onto my children.

So, here’s to authenticity and embracing the full spectrum of family travel and adventure.
In every tough moment, there’s resilience.
In every joyful experience, there’s love.

The essence of your journey lies not just in the picturesque destinations you travel to, but in the shared moments, the laughter, the tears, and the unwavering bond that defines you as a family and leaves you with memories that will last a lifetime.

Because as we all know, it’s in all of the moments, the highs and the lows, that those memories are formed.

If you’re willing, I’d love to hear of a difficult (low) travel moment that’s become a memory your family now talks about!
From the Equator to The Arctic Circle in 4 weeks.

It’s included some long travel days to get here, but we are forever grateful for the time together and these experiences while exploring new places. We’ve been adding highlights of the countries we’ve visited so far and I am working hard behind the scenes to get our website up and running full of itineraries, cost breakdowns, preferred routes, accommodations, tips and tricks we’ve learned in each country and our recommended family friendly adventures! Once I have a good handful of countries ready I will let you know! I truly hope that one day it helps you in your travel planning.

When rhinos crash your bush breakfast!

(šŸ’„ a group of rhinos is called a crash)

We’ve made it to Kenya. I still need to share our final day at Taasa in Tanzania And our travel day, but wifi has been spotty and I just needed this to live right here šŸ¦

(Kids were in no danger. The rhinos continued on their way to the watering hole. Absolutely Amazing to witness).

It’s Time! 🦁 I’ll be sharing all about our Family Safari with kids in our stories here on and trying to update as much as I can.

Our flight is in less than 24 hours and we are still missing 2 of 8 visa approvals… so as always there’s a little added fun before we take off.

But, it’s all part of the adventure and the stories we will share for years to come. That said- I’m hoping we get the email today which will save some headache upon arrival in Tanzania.

Let the adventures begin!
