Braving the chilly nights in Argentina to capture the otherworldly essence of the expansive salt flats - encapsulating an astronaut, manipulating light through drone movements, and blending astrophotography techniques. I wanted to pay homage to the Martian-like landscape of Argentina. So many times during this trip, we felt like we had just landed on Mars. So I brought an astronaut suit and had my friends take turns wearing it while I captured them traversing this otherworldly landscape.
My work aims to pursue the inner, hidden reality - the essence of objects in their intrinsic fundamental nature, and has been indispensable in creating this dreamy, minimalistic photographic style:
For these images, I wanted to use cooler tones to depict the cold, frigid, outer-world landscape. It complements the astronaut suit and transports you into an outer space scene to incorporate more realism in the shot.
The original image had warm sky tones with a lot of blacks. I neutralized the blacks while dialing the cool tones through various color balancing in Luminar Neo. I started with basic adjustments to color grade the images, including saturation, vibrance, color balance, and hue scales. Then, I also found both the sky replacement and the Orton effect tool useful to create this final dreamy effect!
