Inspired to correct this historic injustice, campaigners and writers Claire Mitchell, KC, and Zoe Venditozzi, have delved deeply into just why the trials exploded in Scotland to such a degree. In order to understand why it happened, they have broken down the entire horrifying process, step-by-step, from identification of individuals, to their accusation, ‘pricking’, torture, confessions, execution and beyond.
With characteristically sharp wit and a sense of outrage, they attempt to inhabit the minds of the persecutors, often men, revealing the inner workings of exactly why the Patriarchy went to such extraordinary lengths to silence women, and how this legally sanctioned victimisation proliferated in Scotland and around the world...

I don’t normally do non-fiction but this looked too good to miss and I was right. The narrative is masterfully woven with stories, illustrations, historical documents and personal accounts. And it makes me fucking furious, like stories about this horrific period in time do.
Pretty sure most of my friends and I would be tried as witches if we’d lived back then. Hell, most modern women would. And with the way this dumpster fire of a world is currently going, who’s to say it couldn’t happen again? Stay vigilant, sisters! And read this fantastic book.
Thank you for having me on the tour for this spellbinding book!
I’ve been a fan since The Henna Artist, and I’m pleased to say she’s done it again!
Six Days in Bombay is a sweeping, breathtaking story, with the richly evocative storytelling Alka Joshi brings to all of her stories. We follow Sona, a nurse who befriends a famous artist named Mira Sovak. Sona, who has lived a sheltered simple life yet dreams of something more, is spellbound by Mira and the two become friends. When Mira passes away, she leaves Sona four paintings to be returned to Mira’s former friends and lovers, sending her on adventure across Europe.
What I love most about Joshi’s books are her strong female characters, who grow up in a time and place where women were viewed as inferior. They manage to survive and thrive and support each other, and it’s truly inspiring. Probably the thing I love best after that is her ability to paint a scene so vividly that it feels like you’re there, and she’s knocked it out of the park once again, this time taking us across Europe at a most fraught time in history.
I can’t recommend this book enough, and after you’ve read this, immediately start on the Jaipur Trilogy. You’re welcome in advance.
Thank you for having me on the tour for the latest offering by one of my favourite authors!!

In this darkly comic tale of psychosis in the Home Counties, the stage is set for a blistering examination of mental illness, how we treat it and why we don’t. While Tessa is sectioned in a secure psychiatric hospital, the relationships in the community unravel, and by the time she’s released, all that we thought we knew, and all of our judgements, are thrown into question.
Dim the lights, turn off your phones, settle in as the curtain rises…
📚📚📚
Full of beautiful prose, incisive wit, and droll, darkly comical observations on the stiff upper lips of the upper classes, this book provides a fascinating insight into attitudes around mental health. Highly recommended for anyone with a love of satire and sharp observations!
Thank you,, for having me on the tour for this stunning book!
After an extended hiatus, here I am again, and lookee here. I’ve only gone and preordered the same book twice. Again. How many times is this now? 🤣
If someone could go ahead and create an app that alerts you if you try to preorder the same book from multiple vendors, that would be awesome, please and thank you.
So while everyone is getting healthier and smashing goals this year, my only real resolution is to not order multiple copies of the same book. PK agrees.
Sigh.
QOTD: Anyone else have this problem? Or, what are your New Year’s Resolutions?

Don’t miss the perfect Christmas present for yourself (or for that best friend who would definitely help you hide a body…)
–––––––––––––––––––––
Anna’s Christmas Eve To Do List:
1. Wrap the kids’ presents
2. Peel the potatoes
3. Get rid of the dead body?!
Hungover and exhausted after her family’s annual party, all Anna Johnson wants for Christmas is to finish her to-do list and finally sit down with the world’s biggest glass of wine.
But when she stumbles across a dead body in her larder, her plans are well and truly buggered.
A mysterious death in her home really is the last thing she needs, but with her judgemental in-laws arriving in less than twenty-four hours, turning her house into a crime scene is not an option. If she’s going to save Christmas, it’s up to Anna to find out what the hell’s gone on. Oh – and figure out what to do with the body before one of the kids finds it.
And you thought burning the turkey was the worst that could happen…

Nothing says ‘happy holidays’ like finding a dead Santa in your house, right? This book is hilarious and keeps you guessing. Great for anyone who appreciates out ages a dark comedy with a festive twist!
Thank you for having me on the tour for this book!

‘After much searching, the happily married young couple, Amber and Stevie think they have found the perfect spot in Grimaldi Square. Despite the rundown pub across the way, the overgrown garden and a decidedly nosy neighbour, number 4 is the house of their dreams. Stevie, a woman who has never left anything to chance, has planned everything so nothing can spoil their happiness. But... upstairs in their new home, seated on an old red sofa is the woman they bought the place from - eighty-year-old foul-mouthed, straight-talking, wise-cracking Dorothy - who has decided that she’s not going anywhere. It turns out that Dorothy will be only the first in a line of life-changing surprises.’

Out of the 85 books I’ve read so far this year, Friends of Dorothy by Sandi Toksvig is my favourite. Hands down. And that’s saying a lot, because two of my favourite authors released new books this year and this book has pushed them down to 2nd and 3rd place.
I’m already thinking about how long I should wait until I read it again. I’m obsessed.
I love the ‘found family’ trope, especially when it’s queer found family, and this book is honestly the best example of it I’ve come across. These characters are everything. I want to move into their neighbourhood. And Dorothy herself is my new role model.
This book is uplifting, joyous, fecking hilarious, and full of heart – but it’s not fluff. Serious situations arise, some heartbreaking, some terrifying when you realise that the world still isn’t safe for some – but this story shows us that as long as we stick together, we’ll make it. And have a jolly good time doing so.
I highly recommend this book to fans of… actually I recommend it to everyone. I will never stop recommending this book. Please do yourself a favour, get yourself a copy today, and start reading today.
Eternal gratitude to for having me on the tour for this spectacular, magical, glorious book!!!!

‘A small-town seasonal romcom about a dashing ghost hunter and the bookseller who made up the ghosts he’s chasing. Perfect for fans of Gilmore Girls and Ashley Poston.
Two strangers, one ‘spooky’ town… Will they catch ghosts or feelings?
Lex has one rule for dating: no tourists, newcomers, or anyone bound to leave her behind in her sleepy Vermont hometown. Until she hitches a ride with a handsome stranger who later shows up at her quiet bookshop job and now all the walls she’s built over the years begin to crumble…
James is a filmmaker looking into the town’s ‘haunted’ landmarks – viral ghost stories Lex made up anonymously as a teenager. Lex can’t resist getting involved because if her secret gets out, it could ruin her chances of one day owning the bookshop. After all, James’s stay is only temporary and her career dreams come first.
But as they spend more time together, Lex realises she’s falling for James. Worse, his mission isn’t as frivolous as it seems, and her tricks may cost him much more than a spooky documentary.’
Will her ghost-faking secret be the end of them?’
👻👻👻
, you had me at ‘catch ghosts or catch feelings’. I am a sucker for a small town romcom, especially when it’s autumnal. You throw in the cosiest most autumniest setting of all – a small town in Vermont – and add ghosts?! I’m sold. Oh and there’s a dog? Double sold.
Sweet, sassy, and perfect for a rainy autumn day!
Thank you for having me on the tour for this spooky spectacular love story!
QOTD: What’s your favourite autumn treat?
Drawn by the vase’s supposed magical properties, Margot embarks on her school’s archaeological trip to Pompeii. Sure, it’s her first time holding a shovel, but she’s got something no one else does: lost teenage explorer Van Keane’s journal.
Poring over the poetic entries that serve as a map to the vase’s missing shards, Margot finds herself falling in love with the boy who wrote it a century ago. She’s shocked when her search leads her to a statue that looks exactly like Van, and then the statue comes to life.
Catapulted into the present, Van is nothing like the wordsmith Margot imagined. He’s all sharp edges, intent on retrieving the relic for all the wrong reasons. But it takes two to survive Venus’s death-defying challenges, and, together, Margot and Van must excavate the treasure—and their buried pasts—before their story ends in ruins.
With a blend of humor, magic, and love, Rachel Moore crafts another stand-alone adventure rom-com full of double- and triple-crosses, hilarious shenanigans, and frustration-fueled banter, where the best treasure is true love.’
🩷
While this book is definitely for the younger end of the YA genre, it’s deffo a fun, nonstop, cute and wild ride. Enemies to lovers romance? Snark and sass? Action and adventure? Check, check, and check.
Highly recommend for anyone who loves their romance with a dash of adventure.
Thank you,, for having me on the tour for Us in Ruins!!
