One of my top 3 locations of this season. I spotted this place early on during a scouting trip, and something told me I had to come back. In the end, I returned three times, waiting for the perfect conditions—and it was absolutely worth it. I love the combination of the blossoms and the Dutch countryside landscape.

A location I discovered during one of my scouting rounds. This tulip season, a vibrant tulip field right in front of a church made this spot my number one priority from the very start.
I returned three times because the conditions just weren’t right. My first visit was on April 8th, the second on April 12th, and the last on April 18th for some aerial shots. Every time the conditions were different the fog was too thick, or the sun rose behind me.
A truly unique location in North Holland.

This morning after our workshop, Nick and I went for another drive to scout some new locations and make new contacts for the coming days and next season. Earlier this week, we came across this spot in North Holland. Shortly after 10:00 this morning, we arrived at the location, quickly pulled the car over to the side of the road, and sent the drone up into the air. It was a beautiful scene — a true classic Dutch landscape.
We then drove on to meet a new contact and introduce ourselves. Afterward, Nick went back to the location we had photographed earlier. The topping machine was ready to top the field, and just like that, the tulips were gone. Nick quickly called me to tell me how lucky we had been to capture this spectacle just 1.5 hours earlier.
All in all, a beautiful way to end Friday morning.

The Netherlands is famous for its vibrant tulip fields, which bloom from mid - April to mid-May, with peak season usually in mid-to-late April. As most of you probably know the most famous place to find flowers in the Netherlands is ‘de Keukenhof’. One of the most famous tourist attractions of the country and only open in spring, this ‘garden’ gets over a million visitors each year. While the Keukenhof is definitely beautiful to see, it’s not that great for photographers. It gets very crowded and you don’t see these endless fields of flowers that you see in photos on Instagram!
Here are some of the best places to photograph tulip season:
1. Lisse & Keukenhof Gardens 🌷📸
* Why go? Keukenhof is the world’s most famous tulip garden, featuring over 7 million flowers.
* Tip: Arrive early to avoid crowds and drive your car around the area of the Keukenhof. Just drive around Lisse and Noordwijk.
2. Flevopolder (Flevoland) 🌷
* Why go? This area has endless tulip fields and is less touristy than Lisse.
* Tip: Use a drone for stunning aerial shots!
3. Goeree-Overflakkee (South Holland) 🌷
* Why go? Tulips near the coastline for unique shots!
* Tip: Combine tulip photography with a trip to the nearby beaches.
4. North-Holland (Schagen area) 🌷
* Why go? The largest continuous tulip fields in the country, near the North Sea.
* Tip: Rent a car and drive around and visit small little villages.
5. Súdwest-Fryslân (Friesland) 🌷
* Why go? Less crowded tulip fields with picturesque windmills.
* Tip: Only accruable by car!
