I realized after posting this that there is a whole world of people finding constellations in freckles, a couple of which I’d like to highlight here.
First and foremost Adamantia Selekou, a former of student of mine who made a very beautiful and poetic project that goes far beyond freckles. You can see her work “A Constellation of Freckles” here ->

Second is "Freckle Constellation” and "Freckle Constellation Kite” by Erin Curry from 2013. I had never seen this work, but am glad to know of this beautiful project now. ->
If you google search for "Freckle Constellations” you come across hundreds of posts ranging from photographs, tattoos, videos and software. I found my way here during an astronomy residency last year where I was spending time looking at the stars through a telescope and getting interested in the random properties of photons in the sun's core, and finding connections between constellations, the sun, randomness and my skin. As someone who grew up hating my skin I love the thought that the ancient light of the sun is drawing patterns through the randomness.
