🥂🤍It was wedding weekend for our middle! ALL the love for a morning wedding, a jazz brunch reception, little girls in hand sewn lace, little boys who initiate handshakes with men, wearing passed down jewelry, silver goblets, crab cakes, champagne, “I love yous”, vintage getaway cars, misty eyes, trumpet fanfares, and lots of family! Mary Kate…you’re beautiful and so dear. Peyton…I love the way to love and lead her. You’re a beautiful couple and I can’t wait to have a front seat to see the way God uses you as a couple!
12 years ago today was one of the sweetest days I’ve ever lived. And while it looked absolutely nothing like I had “planned” that it would, it was ABSOLUTELY perfect for me! You see…God knew exactly what I needed and He waited until I was 40 to give it to me! I’m sure that all little girls dream of their wedding day, but thanks to many unsupervised high school studyhall periods, my high school friends and I had planned every. single. detail of our future weddings down to a T. Funny though…God had a different plan for mine.

Did my “high school/study hall” wedding plan have me walking down the aisle at age 40? No. Did I envision 99% of my wedding party being under the age of 13? Also no. Did I dream that I’d have 3 [simply adorable] tweens joining us at the altar? I did not. Did I see myself dancing with 5 year olds at a champagne jazz brunch OR with my college besties at a late night reception? I’ll let you answer that one.
Even with all the differences, I’m convinced God brought me the “perfect for me” man and he chose to wait to bring him my way (a little longer than I liked, TBH).

If you’re in a season of waiting, be encouraged. His timing is perfect and His gifts are so good.

Happy Anniversary, Jay Rainer! Cheers to 12 years! 🥂
Nowhere I’d rather be! These 8th graders were a PURE DELIGHT this month and showing off for their parents was the icing on the cake!

I say it every time. I LOVE teaching 8th graders! It’s an especially fun treat to have so many of “my people” again (after teaching many of them multiple times when they were in elementary school). They’re growing into adorably fun and entertaining teens and it’s a gift to be able to follow them through their entire elementary and middle school careers! 🤍

This week we worked on conversation skills. The girls rotated every 60 seconds and they had the opportunity to begin conversations with new partners over and over (and over). We learned “the why” behind proper name tag placement and we even caught up on some dance moves for those who missed an earlier class.

Teenagers are wonderful and funny and 100% entertaining and I can’t wait for their parents to be WOWED at our final presentation on Sunday night!

Do you have a 7th grader at MBJH? Send me your email address and I’ll add you to the information list for our fall “Dinner and Dancing” class!
If I told you that some of my best friends are between the ages of 4 and 82, would you believe me? It’s true and it’s one of my favorite things about my life!

In the spring edition of the southern publication “Magnolia and Moonshine” you can read about how I started teaching these little “best friends” and you can see how beautifully one of my favorite boutiques (I’m looking at you, ) decorated my dining room for the shoot!

Thank you for the feature,! I’ve loved taking a peek into other corners of the south!
11 years ago I wrote this on the board and let my children guess what “swan song” meant. I love their guesses...”It means she loves us/She thinks we are great/She thinks we are amazing/She’s our leader, etc”. And then I got to tell them that after 20 years of teaching, “This is my final performance.”

At that time I didn’t know what my health or my future held, but now I see that God moved me out of what I THOUGHT was best for me into what He KNEW was best for me.

PS I’m in love with seeing all of these sweet faces. They will NEVER know how important to me they were during a hard year! 💕
This FUN group of boys started taking classes together when they were in 2nd grade and tonight we had our very last class together…”Dining Out”.
I meant when I say this…I’ve enjoyed every single minute with them!

Thanks again to for a wonderful experience!
Well. They were ADORABLE! ✨Not pictured…Six adorable young men fumbling over who got to hold open the door, six adorable young men standing behind their chairs until one pulled my out chair and I was seated, AND six adorable young men STANDING UP when one of my former students came over to speak to us! Skills that will last a lifetime!✨
And as always…HUGE thanks to our friends at! You make it so special for these boys!

Do you have a 5th or 6th grader who would enjoy this class? All spring 2026 class spots are taken, but send me a DM andI’ll add you to the list for fall!
I’ve got to stay on my toes to keep these 5th and 6th grade boys entertained in a table manners class! We spooned ice cream soup in the correct direction and practiced our cutting techniques with M&M pancakes! Next stop…!
Manners. But make it FUN! 🤍A little sneak peek at a fun spring project!
