Last Friday, on the occasion of New York Design Week, we had the honor to host a brunch and conversation dedicated to visionary Lina Bo Bardi, an architect whose own trajectory between Italy and Brazil continues to resonate as a model of cultural translation and radical openness.

Surrounded by our design community, the special encounter was centered around a selection of her seating designs, including the Cadeira Fregidio, and discussed Bardi’s identity, her arrival in Brazil, her first pieces and her legacy in general.

Thank you to Thiago Gomide, Lissa Carmona, João Baraúna and Hannah Martin, who made this moment possible, as well as those of you who joined us!

Featured are images of the event (by Dasha Brook) alongside portraits of Lina Bo Bardi and a document of her work as director at Bahia’s Museum of Modern Art (Instituto Lina Bo and P.M Bardi).

The Espasso Apartment designed and curated by for is now on view at by appointment.

The installation presents a fully realized residential environment built around a curated selection of historic Brazilian design from Espasso. Conceived as a lived in apartment rather than a showroom, the project explores the relationship between the sculptural weight of the building’s concrete architecture and the warmth, tactility, and material richness of Brazilian modernism.

Historic works include designs by Joaquim Tenreiro, Sergio Rodrigues, Claudia Moreira Salles, Oscar Niemeyer, Jorge Zalszupin, Carlos Motta, Giuseppe Scapinelli, and others, alongside contemporary lighting, fiber work, and sculptural pieces by Kawabi, Kat Howard, Peter St. Lawrence, L.T. Horowitz, Tortuga Forma and Office of Tangible Space.

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate our opening night. Our Tribeca home was beaming with the most amazing energy. Seeing so many friends, collectors and designers come together around Brazilian design felt incredibly meaningful.

It was also the perfect evening to officially mark the collaboration between and, bringing together different perspectives through a shared commitment to contemporary and collectible design.

It was an honor to welcome Pali and Jejo Cornelsen, while also launching new pieces centered on the work of Martin Eisler and Michel Arnoult. It was an ambitious idea to bring together different generations and design languages connected to Brazil, but it paid off and showed how strongly people appreciate Brazilian design, across past and present.

Thank you for being part of it. To many more to come!

Lastly, thank you to our sponsors

Eisler & Arnoult now on view at ESPASSO through this Friday.

Bringing together two distinct visions of Brazilian modernism, the exhibition places Martin Eisler’s elegant, sculptural approach in dialogue with Michel Arnoult’s democratic and industrial perspective on design.

We invite you to experience it in person at our Tribeca gallery before it closes this Friday.

Works from the show are also available online through our website (link in bio).

Today (Friday, May 15th, from 10am–12pm), on the occasion of New York Design Week 2026, ESPASSO will host a brunch and conversation dedicated to visionary Lina Bo Bardi.

Moderated by Hannah Martin, Senior Editor at, the talk will bring together Thiago Gomide (Founder ), Lissa Carmona (CEO ), and João Ferraz (CEO ), in a discussion that reflects on her enduring relevance, and in particular, a selection of furniture designs conceived between 1945 and 1960.

This video, produced by Gomide&Co as part of their presentation for TEFAF New York 2026, is connected to a project in which furniture designs by Lina Bo Bardi are presented in dialogue with paintings by Brazilian modernist artist Lorenzato.

Featured in the video and talk, the Girafa chair emerged in the late 1980s through a collaboration between Lina Bo Bardi, Marcelo Ferraz, and Marcelo Suzuki, within the context of projects developed in Salvador, including for the restaurant at Casa do Benin. Conceived in 1986, the piece inaugurated the so-called Girafa line, later unfolded into different typologies produced by.

ESPASSO presents an exhibition on Martin Eisler and Michel Arnoult's involvement in a foundational moment in mid-century Brazilian design.

Martin Eisler and Michel Arnoult, both Jewish European immigrants who arrived in Brazil in the mid-20th century, made parallel attempts to redefine furniture production at a moment when its industrial and cultural infrastructures were beginning to take shape.

Central to the formation of Brazilian design as a formal field and practice, their work reflects a period in which migration, industry, and design converged to reshape how furniture, and ways of living, responded to a rapidly modernizing society.
