Rabenstein Castle has been enthroned on a rocky peak towering high above the Ailsbach valley for more than 800 years and looks back on an exciting and eventful history. Some of the state rooms, richly decorated with historical paintings, furniture, weapons and armour, can be admired on a guided tour or as an overnight guest in one of the 22 rooms of the present hotel.
The best view of the castle is revealed to the passionate hiker. The Promenade path leads past some beautiful caves (more on this later) and most of the time in the shade of majestic trees. The more you enjoy the places where the green wall opens up and allows a view of Rabenstein Castle, the Klausstein solitary area and the original Ailsbach valley, divided by the ribbon of road.

An manchen Abenden verabschieden sie sich, von der tiefstehenden Sonne glutrot angestrahlt, in die wohlverdiente Nachtruhe.

Sun and clouds alternate with pleasure, a deep blue sky is always welcome. On some evenings, the sun illuminates them in a glowing red before they retire for a well-deserved night's rest.

A stone's throw away, the ruins of Streitberg Castle sit enthroned on a mighty rock above the small but coquettish village of the same name and offer a great distant view.

In der direkten Nachbarschaft steht die sehr gut erhaltene Burgruine Randeck, unter normalen Umständen darf die nahe gelegene Tropfsteinhöhle Schulerloch besichtigt werden. Schloss Prunn und die Rosenburg bei Riedenburg sind fast in Sichtweite.
Wunderschöne Wanderwege wollen begangen werden, zum Beispiel von Nusshausen über die Klamm und Karsthänge bis nach Riedenburg.
Ganz gut schweigen vom nahe gelegenen Kelheim mit seiner Befreiungshalle und dem Weltenburger Kloster und den Wanderwegen dazwischen. Relikte aus der Keltenzeit sind hier auch zu finden.

You don't have to go far to admire turquoise water, places steeped in history and unspoilt nature; the idyllic village of Essing is located in a wonderful setting in the upper Altmühl valley.
The very well-preserved Randeck castle ruins are in the immediate vicinity, and under normal circumstances the nearby Schulerloch stalactite cave may be visited. Prunn Castle and Rosenburg Castle near Riedenburg are almost in sight.
Wonderful hiking trails want to be walked, for example from Nusshausen over the gorge and karst slopes to Riedenburg.
Nearby Kelheim with its Liberation Hall and Weltenburg Monastery and the hiking trails in between also knows how to inspire. Relics from the Celtic period can be found here.
