our SailGP weekend in New York is behind us, and to be honest, it was a frustrating event for us as the German team.
The conditions were far from ideal from the start. We didn’t have the usual practice racing on Friday, and Saturday’s entire race day was cancelled due to excessive wind. That meant we went into the only remaining race day with virtually no preparation.
On Sunday, only three races were held. We were over the line early in the first race, and in the second race a jury decision that proved decisive for the outcome went against us. Even though we showed our potential again in the third race, there simply wasn’t much left to gain by then.
What makes it particularly disappointing is that we really feel the team is gaining momentum. We’re becoming increasingly competitive across a wide range of conditions and are moving around the racecourse with growing confidence and consistency. Now it’s important that we take the right lessons from this weekend and make sure we can get the most out of events like this, even when preparation opportunities are limited.
In three and a half weeks, we’ll be back in action in Canada. We’re looking forward to another opportunity to perform and proudly fly the German flag.
Thank you for all your encouraging messages and continued support. It truly means a lot to us, especially after weekends like this, and gives us extra motivation to keep pushing forward.

Hongkong war eine beeindruckende Erfahrung – und jetzt ist es offiziell: Im kommenden Frühjahr wird SailGP erstmals in Hongkong an den Start gehen. Mit der Veröffentlichung des Saisonkalenders 2027 wächst die Vorfreude auf eine außergewöhnliche Saison mit ikonischen Destinationen und neuen Märkten weltweit.
Unser erstes Rennen in Asien erweitert die internationale Bühne von SailGP noch einmal enorm und zeigt, wie dynamisch sich die Liga weltweit entwickelt. Die Begeisterung für unseren Sport, die Energie der Stadt und die Kulisse am Wasser machen Hongkong zu einem perfekten neuen Austragungsort.
Ein großes Dankeschön an Sail GP, Hong Kong Yacht Club und an alle Beteiligten, die dieses Event möglich gemacht haben. Wir freuen uns darauf, im Frühjahr zurückzukommen und gemeinsam mit den Fans ein unvergessliches erstes SailGP-Event in Hongkong zu erleben.

Hong Kong was an incredible experience — and now it’s official: SailGP will make its debut in Hong Kong next spring. With the release of the 2027 Season Calendar, excitement is building for what promises to be an outstanding season featuring iconic destinations and expanding into new global markets.
Our first event in Asia represents another major step in SailGP’s global growth and highlights the increasing international reach of the league. The energy of the city, the passion for sailing, and the spectacular waterfront setting make Hong Kong a perfect addition to the calendar.
A huge thank you to Sail GP, the Hong Kong Yacht Club and everyone involved in making this event possible. We’re excited to return in spring and be part of an unforgettable first SailGP event in Hong Kong.
