Phishâs first show at Worcester Centrum, a 14,800-capacity hockey arena, was their fifth annual New Yearâs Eve show. The band added new sounds to their sonic palette that year and spent the fall recording their fifth studio album, Hoist, so they we armed with a fresh batch of sounds and material. The show was sold out. This box set captures Phish at a crossroads of their career in their biggest New yearâs Eve show at the time, perfoming 30 tunes over the course of 3-sets in Massachusettes.

Early pressings of The Freewheelinâ Bob Dylan originally included four songs that were later pulled: âTalkinâ John Birch Paranoid Blues,â âLet Me Die in My Footsteps,â âRambling Gambling Willie,â and âRocks and Gravel.â Those tracks were replaced at the last minute with newer recordings, and Columbia supposedly destroyed the original copies before release. A handful slipped through anyway, making the original version of the album incredibly rare and valuable todayâone copy has sold for around $35,000.
The original release was finally made available to the public on Record Store Day Black Friday in late 2025 in a limited pressing of 13,000 copies. The RSD release of Freewheelinâ includes the four alternate songs as well as original liner notes by Nat Hentoff that didnât appear on the version of Freewheelinâ we know so well.
Record of the Month Club members will be getting a copy of the Record Store Day Black Friday release.
Freewheelinâ also includes the track âOxford Town,â written in 1962 in response to the Ole Miss riot over James Meredithâs enrollment at the University of Mississippi. The song never names Meredith or the university, keeping its message broader and more timeless, as Dylan later explained. Dylan has only performed the song live onceâat the Tad Pad on the Ole Miss campus on October 25th, 1990.

The year is winding down. The shop has been really busy this fall/winter with the Ole Miss Football teamâs playoff run, the record shop getting mentioned in The New Yorker holiday gift guide, and the general business Oxford brings throughout the year with locals, students, and tourists. Our little shop is chugging along!
Last year was the first time we didnât post a âfavorite records of the yearâ list. I see those list all over the internet every year and they all kind of bum me out. Records shouldnât be ranked really. I donât know⊠we can discuss the whole âlistâ thing whenever. Just swing by the shop and hang out. Iâm sure we can get into it. I do, however, dig year-end lists as a reminder of the good stuff, the stuff I didnât catch the first time around, and the stuff Iâve just never heard of. So, read your lists on your favorite sites, or discuss with your music-nerd group chat. Get turned on to new stuff. Replay the records you loved throughout the year. Itâs all subjective!
Anyways, last year was also the first time we did a year-end roundup of all the great stuff that happened at the record store throughout the year, and we wanna stick with this idea. We also look back at some of the losses, hardships, and bummers the year brought through the shop. Itâs a trip down memory lane! I like this list. Itâs so fun to relive and remember all the amazing stuff that took place in our little shop. Itâs most important to remember the highs and the lows, and to celebrate it all. So, without further ado, hereâs some of the most memorable stuff that happened at The End of All Music (and Oxford!) in 2025.
As always, big love to all the fine folks that come through our shop doors and click around our shop website. Our customers are the best people in the world, and weâre glad we can call so many of them friends.
See yâall in 2026. Shop local. Support to the stuff you care about. Keep your community in mind. Be a regular somewhere. Remember, no algorithm can replace this.
See ya soon,
David, Clay, Tori, Ian, and Morgan
Big shout out to our pal and for including us (and lots of other amazing folks/stuff) in the HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE for music lovers!
Let us help/hip you to some new tunes. Itâs the gift that keeps on giving.
