Happy Olympic & Paralympic Day! 🇺🇸

Today is a celebration of values that make sport so powerful: excellence, respect, friendship, courage & perseverance.

Reflecting on my own journey, sport has challenged me to push beyond limits I thought were fixed. It taught me how to persevere through setbacks, adapt when things didn’t go according to plan, and continue to move forward even when the path became difficult.

The journey wasn’t always easy, or what I always expected. But some of the most meaningful lessons came from those challenges.

Olympic & Paralympic day reminds us that sport is about more than competition. It’s about growth, community, and discovering what we’re capable of when we commit ourselves to something bigger than our fears and doubts.

New block means some testing beforehand! I tested bar velocity through increasing weights so we have an idea of my load-velocity profile. 🏋🏻‍♀️

We all need a bit of sliding content after the weekend, so here’s the incredible run by & in Sigulda, that brought them IBSF World Cup victory - first for Kaillie as a mom and first in her career for Emily! 🤩🥇🛷

The Old Man and the Sea

“Now is no time to think of what you do not have.
Think of what you can do with that there is.”
-Ernest Hemingway
Our team is on the way to the Olympic Games and I don’t know how to put this into words, or to summarize the emotions I’ve been going through for over a week now, considering nothing is logical anymore.

I was left off the Olympic roster. Although I was offered the alternate spot (truthfully I hate the word “alternate”) and will join team USA at the games in that position, none of this feels right. I’m in shock, I’m beyond disappointed and in disbelief in the decision that was made, I’m upset, angry, I feel isolated and literally any negative emotion you can think of. It stings more than words can put, knowing my dreams have been crushed and by knowing how much I’ve sacrificed to get this to level. Ultimately, I won’t be able to fulfill my Olympic dream and I’ll have to watch my teammates live out theirs from the sidelines. I just wanted the opportunity to represent the red, white and blue, to get to stand on the starting block and compete for the podium.

I would like to congratulate those who made it however. I can only imagine the honor and privilege it is to have this opportunity.

I’ll continue to remind myself that this fits into Gods plan and try and have faith in that. But in all honesty, I’m struggling to see this at the moment. I also want to do my best to enjoy the experiences I will get at the games.

Despite this gloomy situation, I am grateful for a couple of things in all of this. One, the support and love I have received from so many friends, family, teammates and athletes from other nations, and two, that some of these people have reminded me of gifts God has given me, those of integrity and an undeniable indomitable spirit.

That’s amore ❤️🇮🇹 While athletes and were chasing their Olympic dreams across Europe, Elliot was quietly planning a surprise of his own. On December 25, 2025, in the heart of Rome with the Colosseum as their backdrop, he got down on one knee: choosing a place that honors Emily’s Italian roots and the sport that first brought them together.

Both Team USA bobsled athletes, Emily and Elliot met through the sport that shaped their lives, growing closer over three seasons of competition, travel, and shared determination. Though Emily suspected a proposal might happen during their Christmas trip, nothing prepared her for turning around and seeing Elliot on one knee. His favorite memory? Safely carrying the ring across the world. Hers? Realizing that forever starts now.

The ring couldn’t be more perfect: an oval cut diamond with a hidden halo on a gold band, inspired by the way ice sparkles beneath a speeding sled. Afterward, they celebrated the holidays by wandering Rome, snapping photos, and soaking it all in. With the Milan–Cortina 2026 Olympics just weeks away, wedding planning can wait — but one thing’s certain: wherever their wedding destination may be, it’ll be a place that tells their love story. 💍🏅
