2016 was an epic year of travel and transition. i journeyed to belize with, tahoe with my yoga girls, banff for ’s wedding, and closed the year out in salt lake city for ’s wedding. i taught 1 million yoga classes and workshops at and my husband and i moved to washington dc where i started working at embrace yoga with.

in the very beginning of the year, the winter, i gave birth to my daughter. unmedicated. it was such a powerful experience that it inspired me to become a doula. birthing my daughter was also the birth of me as a mom of 2. the jump from 1-2 kids is a wild adventure and it has forced me to release control of oh idk, everything?

i’m also going on 1 year of breastfeeding. i had hoped to make it 1 month but here we are, almost at the 1 year mark. i am proud of myself for sticking it out, draining as it is (literally and figuratively).

just a couple weeks after Ruby entered the world, i started a lifting program. i followed it to a T from day one. i knew it would be a challenge to build muscle and lose fat while nursing and not letting my milk supply tank, but i took the challenge head on, stayed consistent even when i felt defeated + shitty, and while it took a lot longer than i’d hoped, i met my one year postpartum goals. massive s/o to and his program.

in the spring, i was asked to join the board of. i don’t think i’ve said YES to anything faster in my entire life. it’s an honor to serve on the board of such an esteemed and visionary company. my heart is so full.

summer? i think we spent every single day at the beach. ocean. ice cream. 🔁 oh and i finally slept trained Rue, though i (mostly) thoroughly enjoyed cosleeping.

in the fall Hank started kindergarten. a monumental occasion! he attends a montessori homeschool learning center and i could not be more proud of how he is navigating this brand new world of independence.

and here we are, back in winter — full circle. i haven’t found much time to reflect on things throughout the year, as life has been absolute chaos. but it is within the chaos that i am finding my center. eye of the storm, yada yada.

2025 i learned to embrace the chaos. i used to pride myself on running an extremely tight ship — perfection with one kid was easy. two kids and shit gets REAL. 2026? it’s giving major type B energy and i’m so here for it. ✌️

literally the 20th anniversary of my 21st birthday. 😳 so how is it that i still feel like a teen mom? like i’m the nanny and there is another adultier adult somewhere waiting in the wings? but indeed it is somehow me. i’m the responsible one. the adult. the grown up. lorddtttt.

anyhoo…my birthday always falls the week (or day) of thanksgiving. the week where we’re supposed to be thinking about what we’re grateful for. the week where holiday stress, family stress, food stress, travel stress and end of the year work stress come together like captain planet to form unprecedented levels of agita.

the juxtaposition of stress and gratitude that punctuates my birthday every year is an irony not lost on me — a woman in the beautiful, messy, glorious (did i mention messy?) trenches of motherhood. stress and burn out are just my default settings these days. and i am so fucking grateful for and deeply in love with the very things and people at the root of that stress.

we take spooky season very seriously in the Bernstein household. halloween has always been my favorite holiday and my son is so obsessed with all things spooky that we even threw him a halloween themed birthday party when he turned 3 despite the fact that his bday is mid-july. all the kids came in costume and he forced me to be a werewolf. why yes i wore a full-on furry werewolf suit in florida in july. this kid and his halloween obsession, man. i’m so here for it. he even needed a loft bed in his room just so we could accommodate all his costumes. ☠️

i’ve always loved the spooky, the creepy, the weird, the offbeat. but there’s something really magical about halloween — especially when you have kids. it’s a low pressure holiday with no gifts, no familial obligations, no travel required. it’s literally just meant to be fun.

there’s enough seriousness, enough heaviness, enough sadness in the world right now, so from october 1 to october 31 i am all in on spooky, scary fun only. 👻

i’ve stepped back from posting here, other than the occasional manic fueled post at 3am or snippets of my life in my stories which seemingly reach about 2 pct of my “audience” because A) you’ve either muted me (totally understandable 🫡) or B) the algorithm throws people who don’t have anything to sell down the digital abyss. either way, i haven’t posted a ton, as i’ve been in the trenches of early motherhood, knee deep in the hoopla, but in about 6 days, ready to come up for air.

despite the lack of my posting presence, i’ve still been writing. a shit ton. you should see my notes app…good lord. mostly discombobulated, incoherent drivel BUT there are some nuggets of gold. and an outline for a book. lmfao “there she goes again”. but i’ve got it this time. i’ve always been a prolific writer — never a lack of things to say 🤭 — rather, it’s the organization, the structure, the container that i could never quite nail down.

but i have it. and i’m writing this here and now for the 12 of you who are still reading this in order to hold myself accountable. when i get my life back in 6 days after my son starts kindergarten, its grind time. i worked hard to sleep train my daughter the past few weeks so that i could gain some time and space back in my life. as sweet as the co-sleeping and contact naps were, i totally lost myself.

but i’m back baby. loquacious as ever. and it is not lost on me that we are in the heart of virgo season. funny how it always works out perfectly. trust the divine timing of things yada yada.

many of you have followed me for years. some for upward of ten! i began this account in 2014 as a way to advertise my yoga classes and along the way i feel like i’ve lived 100 different lives. (complete with 100 different hairstyles 🤭)

since the inception of instagram, i’ve been a yoga / pilates / fitness instructor, i’ve been a teacher of teachers, a mentor and a coach. i returned to dancing professionally for a number of years and helped form and run a contemporary ballet company in DC. i went back to teaching yoga and fitness for a while. i became a mom. x2! and most recently i’ve joined the board of ballet vero beach. whew! (lest we forget the number of years i spent as a preschool and kindergarten teacher prior to IG!) i’ve been blessed to have many lives, many careers, many callings and many opportunities to answer those callings.

i’ve written about this particular poignant moment in my life before but i’ll mention it again — many years ago i spoke with a high recommended numerologist named joni. i’ve always been deeply interested in astrology but numerology never really spoke to me. i decided on a whim to drive out to brown county, indiana for a reading from joni, and she said something that has stuck with me all these years.

at the time i had no idea what she as talking about, but 47 careers, 120 obsessive hobbies and 10 years later, it makes all the sense. my interests and skills are wildly varied but the way which they now work in conjunction is the most incredible, unique and beautiful tapestry i could’ve ever dreamed of weaving for my life.
