In this case, we utilized the patient’s wisdom tooth to replace a missing second molar and used canine substitution to replace a missing lateral incisor.
The alternative plan would have involved premolar extractions, removal of the wisdom tooth, and two future implants.
Instead, careful orthodontic planning allowed us to:
• Preserve natural teeth
• Avoid unnecessary extractions
• Reduce the need for implants
• Maintain healthy bone and gum architecture
• Create a functional and esthetic result using the patient’s own dentition
Every case is different, but when possible, I love finding biologic solutions that work with nature rather than replacing it.
Sometimes the best implant is the tooth you already have.
