It took me a couple of days to fully process what I had accomplished, the feeling of crossing that finish line was so unreal to me.
Never in a million years did I ever think I would run a marathon but here we are today. A year ago I set out a goal to complete my first half marathon and a year later I can officially say I’ve doubled that distance.
While most people set out on a 20 week training plan, my training looked a little different. As most of you know I had an injury in June that took me out for 2 months. After those 2 months I started back up in school. As a senior in a very rigorous BSN program it left me no time to train. My days consisted of 4:30am morning to get to clinical on time to take care of people’s families and children all for the price of experience. Then came the exams worth 80% of our grade which left little to no room or mistakes. And countless hours of studying to make sure I knew the material like the back of my hand. When I wasn’t at school I was working my 2 jobs, on top of trying to have a social life.
Although I am not proud to say it, I ran this marathon with no training what so ever. My longest run was a half marathon to see where I was at. From there on out I told myself time didn’t matter I just needed to cross the finish line. During the race I was running purely off vibes.
To my friends and family thank you for getting me through. With the encouraging voice notes, to seeing all of y’all through out the course, I couldn’t have done it without y’all. Thank you god for allowing me to move my body for 26.2 miles and giving me the strength to never quit even when I wanted too.
This race showed me what it was like to be resilient, to never give up, and that I can do anything I put my mind to. Officially part of the 1%!!🤍
