Schon verrĂźckt: Vor genau vier Jahren war ich zum ersten Mal bei der Ausstellung von im Leica Store. Das war der erste Tag, an dem ich Ăźberhaupt im Store war und der Moment, in dem ich erstmals mit der Fotografie in BerĂźhrung gekommen bin.
Und nun stehe ich hier und bin einfach stolz darauf, diesen Preis in den Händen zu halten.

A way of giving something back.
A while ago, photographer Eduard Zimmer visited the sanctuary during a workshop on Tenerife led by Sebastien J. Zanella. What started as a week of learning ended with a visit to a place neither expected to leave unchanged.
Over the years, Sebastien has now brought around five different workshop groups to the sanctuary, always as a surprise final stop and emotional ending to the course. And every single time, both he and his students have found ways to give back through donations, visibility and support for the animals here.
So this is also a huge thank you to Sebastien and all of his students for continuing to include us in these experiences and helping this sanctuary be seen through so many different eyes.
Sebastien reminded everyone there that photography can also carry responsibility.
That sometimes, our skills, our eyes and our platforms can be used to make something meaningful visible.
And that is exactly what Eduard did.
Through his lens, he captured not only the animals, but also the quiet details around them. The plants. The atmosphere. The small moments that often pass unnoticed in the middle of everyday sanctuary life.
Thank you for seeing this place with such intention.

Ich wĂźnsche euch allen einen guten Start in die neue Woche. Bei dem ganzen Trubel der Stadt ist es schĂśn, einen Ort zu haben, an den man sich zurĂźckziehen und einfach durchatmen kann. Ich war im Palmengarten in Frankfurt âdanke an Hasselblad fĂźr die tolle Kamera. Es ist immer wieder unglaublich zu sehen, wie gut die Farben und die Qualität sind und wie viel Spielraum sie mir in der Fotobearbeitung geben.

For me it was a few weeks ago on the Canary Islands. With my camera in hand I captured those moments.
I believe the best photos are created when we fully surrender to the moment when we let go just feel and go with the flow.
Daily life catches up with us so quickly and our thoughts are always two steps ahead. I wish you a weekend full of time time to be present without already thinking about the next task.

And the quiet anticipation of the happiness thatâs meant for us.

the path itself is already the joy weâve been searching for.
Coming from street photography in Frankfurt and New York City, I am now in the water surrounded by waves, currents, and rocks. Here, I feel alive and exactly where I am meant to be, yet at the same time slightly lost, because everything is new to me.
My sincere thanks to and for giving me the opportunity to capture this photograph. This kind of photography has truly inspired me, and I look forward to exploring it further on my next journey.
