À partir d’une simple carte postale ancienne en noir et blanc, j’ai entrepris de faire revivre Salmacis, œuvre disparue du peintre mayennais Charles Landelle.
Non pas copier ce qui existe encore…
mais tenter de retrouver ce qui a disparu.
Imaginer la couleur d’une peau.
La transparence d’un tissu.
La lumière d’un regard.
Le silence d’une atmosphère.
Ce travail n’est pas une reconstitution scientifique, mais une conversation avec la mémoire de la peinture.
En tant que peintre et professeur de peinture classique à Laval, profondément attaché à la transmission des savoir-faire des maîtres anciens, ce projet était pour moi une manière de prolonger un dialogue avec l’histoire.

Aujourd’hui, un petit artiste découvre la toile pour la première fois.
Je le porte dans mes bras pour qu’il puisse atteindre la palette, et ensemble nous déposons les premières couleurs.
